Unhappy Saw a sad sight today

Well, I stopped by my body shop today for a couple of reasons. I wanted to talk to them about Rajah's car (his is there now too) and to get the most recent estimate from them on my car. I ended up going back to look at my car; man was that a sad sight.

When I first saw it, I barely recognized it. It's up on a rack and both rear wheels were taken off. The whole left side of the car is basically cut off. The interior is completely out and the trunk lid was open and the rear clusters were out. Basically, the car has been completely gutted (except for the passenger door) from the dashboard back. And since there is no body left on the driver-side, it reminded me of when the race car is getting built in Days of Thunder, and there's just a frame.

They have ordered new suspension along with many body parts and unibody pieces. They said that so far we're looking at around $12,000--not as bad as I thought. But they are very confident that the car will be just like new.

Then, outside, I see Rajah's 99 Blue RS. I talked to them awhile about his. They said that it looks like the wire to the airbags was cut during the accident, before they could deploy.

Here's a picture of his car for ya.

DAMN!! That sucks, big time. That blue car on the left looks like my car. A 91 legacy. Can't wait until I get my 2.5RS.

Might I enquire as to how this unfortunate turn of events came about?

P.S. Doesn't $12,000 count as an insurance write off?

Hmmmmm... Here I am preparing for the worst. Well I must say, it looks damn good that low... would be really sharp on the road (in one piece, mind you).

Just a quick analization, it looks like it was hit from the driver's side (as in taking off at an intersection and having someone blow the red from your left and cream your front end) which would explain the rear left fender being damaged since it'd naturally swing around and clip the rear end of the car that hit it. The wheels are still in place pretty much so I'm assuming very little, if any, frame damage.

Rajah, my condolences go out to you and your car, I hope they are able to either fix it well or get you a new one.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the kind words ladies & gents.

I truly hope they decide to fix it instead of totalling it. It's a shame you can't buy that color anymore It's only the best color ever sold by Subaru!

As for the accident, here's the other link!

Injuries come later, I was most upset that dood destroyed my ride.

Damn.. for that kind of damage isnt it better to write it off and get a different car/new impreza? I dont know if the frame was bent or something but that car is not likely to be the same ever...

Mine was written off, as i had "kinked" (minor understatement) the roof, and it needed a new body shell, our (UK) import restrictions meant you couldnt buy a body shell from anywhere mind you i got a nice shiny new car out of it
