I did that on my gocart engine. The CR is crazy. It would run like a diesel engine on starting fluid, no need for spark. It lasted for about 2 days of serious abuse and then it pounded the rod bearings to nothing. I had open exhaust and couldnt hear detonation. I just did the math and I came out with a 11.34:1 CR

the stock cr on a 2.5l p1 is 9.5 :1, using the 2.2l heads will give you a smaller combustion volume which will increase compression, but not to 13:1, maybe 10-10.5:1, im doing the same thing, i used a 2.5l p2 sohc head gasket, and had to modify a little bit, but i works

the main reason that i am doing this is because it is much cheaper then buying all new stuff. i am tradding my single ports for the dual ports, block and pistons are free. all i am buying are a few gaskets, seals, clutch, and some exhaust. this is fun for me and i like playing with this stuff. i know a guy that had this same setup and it lasted for a long time. the only reason he took it out is because he put dohc heads on his block.

oh yea my 1997 obs has 205,000 miles on it.

Default Compression

The 2.5 DOHC Phase 1 engine only has a 9.5:1 compression ratio in MY95 all the other DOHC 2.5 are 9.7:1
