Talking Hybrid harness Q's

Well, id figure id cut to the chase and put my first post in a form of a Question.....

Swapping a USDM WRX (EJ20) motor into a 2000 2.5 RS. I have the ECU, but i do not have the harness. I have access to a complete nose to tail harness from an 02 WRX wagon, the guy wont break it up. I'm obviously not using the entire harness, but thats not my problem. My real issue is the harness is for an automatic car. Now here's where the barrage of questions starts:

a) Is the transmission harness a separate physical harness, i.e., it can be unplugged from the engine harness? Or is it integrated into the engine harness, requiring cutting to be removed.

b) How integrated are the TCM and ECM? If I remove the trans harness wiring, will the ECU still 'look' for its missing partner? What do i do to circumnavigate this?

In the end, im just trying to see how much of this harness I will need to use, and if anything else, it is practical to use this harness for a swap, or if i should just look elsewhere for a manual trans harness. Thanks for the help

IIRC, on the ecu their is a transmission identifier pin out which tell the ecu wether you are running a auto or 5 speed.
