Tein's webpage says COMING SOON. It will have msrp of $990, probably sell for about $850 at first. That's about all I know. I also was hoping for these to be available before I'm six-feet-under.

It makes me glad I opted for the Wagon coilovers instead of waiting for these to come out :P

How are those working out for you? I have thought about that route as well.

Now with 25% more ego!

Arrow Basic = Wagon?

I heard from a distributor that the Tein Wagon dampers ARE the Tein Basic coilovers, just with a different name. They will fit on a sedan or a wagon (as do all coilovers) and are valved similar to the Flexes. The reasoning behind this is that for most car models(Honda, Nissan), the Ground Control + Koni setup is popular, and Tein wanted to have a product to compete in that market niche. Hence the Tein Basics. However, since the GC + Koni setup is nearly non-existant among the Subaru crowd, Tein decided to label the Basic model "Wagon" in order to keep from drawing customers away from their higher dollar models (ie Flex, SS, RA). The end result is that few people own the Wagon model, even though they are a very well-built and high quality product, just not the level of the more expensive products. Agian, this is just heresay, but...

not necesarily true...
all i knows is that the wagons come with 260 front spring rates, and something like a 180 rear... the basic dampers are supposed to be 260f and 260r. the 'soft' rear springs on the wagon cause a bit of understeer.

I actually contacted Tein USA about the basic dampers, and asked a few questions. Here's their responses (from the answers, you can figure out the original questions):

Greg,

1. That kit is currently in development and unfortunately has no
confirmed release date or MSRP as of yet. Development is time consuming and extensive as each vehicle and kit goes through multiple road tests to determine the best performance and comfort. Please occasionally check back on our website in the near future for the most up to date information.

2. Yes, the Tein Type Basic is designed to use the stock upper mount.

3. There is a lot of differences between the Basic and the Wagon. The Basic has 5 kg springs installed in the front and rear while the Wagon runs a 5 kg in the front and a 3 kg in the rear. Also, the Basic has a more aggressive valving while the Wagon kit is valved for more comfort.

If you have anymore question please feel free to contact us. Thank you for your interest in TEIN High Performance Suspension Products.

Best regards,
Tein U.S.A

hope that helps... i'm also considering these.

Just FYI: Although these dampers say they are ride height adjustable, they don't tolerate large changes well. I have Tein Wagons, and when I tried to raise the ride height 1/2", the ride quality went all to hell. I'm sure I could have addressed the problem if they were damper adjustable, but they're not. So, make sure the spec ride height is what you want before you buy.
