Has anyone else noticed this? Seems like all the new Cara-voyagers have a spoiler sticking off the roof/rear door. Are these dads closet 2.5RS wanters who have been denied the pleasure?
I'm sure exhaustive wind-tunnel testing showed performance gains. sigh....

Hey don't bring up performance. Say they are ugly, say they don't belong, but don't say they aren't wind tested.... Cause people in glass houses shouldn't be throwing bolders...
I'm sure that the guys in Formula 1 racing and other motorsports that actually have a functional wing/spoiler could say the same thing about the one on the RS.... Will you say the same thing about the spoiler on my Legacy GT Wagon? -mike |

I still have not understood why Subaru chose to offer a rear spoiler on Outback Wagons or Foresters. Rear dust deflector, eh, maybe... but a spoiler?

it's there for good looks (yeah right!
) but more likely to increase drag coefficient- therefore forcing you to gas up more often.... There's probably a kickback from the petroleum industry somewhere... ![]() -C [This message has been edited by silverSurfer (edited May 22, 2000).] |

How are these wings angled? I do believe their function is to blow wind down over the rear window to prevent the wet grime kicked up by the wheels from getting sucked up.
My uncle's 89 Mirage hatchback(looks like a Civic hatchback) used to always get wet grime on the rear windows. I noticed that the next model('90) had a roof wing angled down. It's there for a reason. |

Snoopy's right, they keep grime off the rear window.
