Hmmmm... guess that means I should release my MY00 intake sooner then, huh? Maybe Saturday if there are no races Sunday, if there are, then Sunday morning before I go I'll post my intake up.

Is this the same as the "big box" filter or "2nd filter" that the 99's have?

Question

can you get those from a retailer or do you have to go to K&N for those?

Talking K&N officially releases MY2K filter tomarrow!

Here is the e-mail I just received from K&N:

Dear customer,
33-2154 is the correct part#. We have reached our stock level for
release which should happen today or tomorrow. It has an msrp of $57.98 and
it will give you a
2 - 4 % horsepower increase. Your local guy is correct.
Thanks for asking, Rick
Finally!

iSR Performance is checking on the K&N for me (pricing/availibility) and will e-mail me as soon as they know.

NickSTi - The only reason I prefer the K&N is because I have used them in the past with good results and no problems and I prefer cotton over foam. I'm sure the Amsoil is similarly effective.

I really believe that the AMSOIL oiled foam filter will flow as well or better than a K&N, while trapping more dirt. On my race bikes we used foam air filters, with good engine protection and air flow.

And, when I changed to my latest intake, I'm sure I got at least 15hp total increase over stock (with my cold air intake and AMSOIL together.) I have had a few people try my car and agree it makes nice power vs stock. Seems K&N's 2-4 HP claim is kinda lame, although the "Injection Performance System" they make for other cars would probably make more power. The filter alone doesn't solve the problem of having a restrictive intake sucking in hot air, with ribbed tubing and deeliwhoppers hanging off of it everywhere.

I have recently replied to a couple of emails, agreeing that I would assemble and sell my custom cold-air intakes for about $50 plus S&H, if someone really wants me to. Soon I am going to try to become an AMSOIL distributor, to sell them with my cold-air intake. I'm a real believer in their product.

Now all I need is 100 orders to overwhealm me so I can be like all the other people who can't keep up with demand and piss people off. I'm just doing this for fun - yeah, that's the ticket...

(PS: I can only take an order if someone emails me to see if and when I can have one ready for them - I am going out to buy more parts tomorrow). For now, the AMSOIL filter "S1992" for MY00 can be ordered from Reichert's Sales and Service at 719-634-6222)
