Thumbs up Carlisle display "Imprezzive"

Finally late yesterday I was able to leave the wet, muddy vendor booth and wander on down to the I-car area. I was extremely impressed...the cars were all top-notch, unbelievably clean and made a great presentation. Also nice to see the 'rice' content in the Subaru camp is minimal...you guys have class! Nice to see at least 3 turbo conversions there also. While my plain-jane 96 was not in attendance, I was still pleased to be associated with such a quality group through the shared love of the little Subys. (Pardon me while I wipe away a tear). Just thought you may want to know what an 'outsider' thought of the turnout.

Best Wishes,
Dwight Varnes, '96 L
Busy trying to peddle junk parts and my wife's Jetta GLI...

I myself did not have my car (RS) there but I did enjoy the Impreza presentation. I only stayed until around 2pm. The actual Subaru (new cars) tent was very scarce as far as spectators. I only remember seeing two or three people in there the entire time. Im not surprised though. Man, that place was a sea of hondas!

Hey it was great to see everyone at the show. My Ugly duckling XT6 was there Everyone was totally cool to meet. It was a good bonding experience. Alsmost everyone went to the same place for dinner too Anyone do any good street racing sat night? Girls RS, Bob, and a bunch of us went to harrisburg and hung out last night.

I was also suprised at the overall professionalism displayed by everyone at the show (subie and non-subie) but our display was the best.

I would have to say, all of our members, and the subies there in general.. The owners displayed with pride, rather than neon lights, mirrors, and general gaudiness. It was an excellent experience to have SO many owners in one place (about 30?) to get ideas, and to see first hand what the results were. Although, next year I hope to have many more boxes to check off during registration

I can't wait till next year! That was fun. MattC and I got up at the crack of dawn for the AutoX. They had a funny classing system that put anything from a stock honda to a full race Mini Cooper in the same class.

We had fun though Matt beat me pretty good Almost 2 seconds but I beat an Integra Type-R by 3! Oh and the Rented Dodge Ram 4x4

By the way who won the car show in the Subaru class??? Did they even judge??

Here is a shot of the whole place Our area circled in red

Yes! I must say, Carlisle was very cool despite the rainy weather. It seems like the nicest people own Subaru's. I had fun hanging out with everyone. What a turnout. People there from GA, IL, MA. It got interesting Saturday evening when everyone was doing burnouts. I figured somebody was going to get rear-ended. Sure enough, on the way out 2 civic's colided while roping them off at a light. Oh yea, the guy in the white RS with a wall full of subs chirped all 4. What a pitiful sight.

Yes I think we all enjoyed the time together. I could not believe the turn out on saturday. Over 30 Imprezas in the rain. So cool! I loved watching all the lowered rice cars scape the ground when going from the grass to the blacktop! I guess they were wet sanding their cars! I think we should do this show again next year.

Ray Ranier (I don't think I spelled his last correctly, sorry!) won 1st in our class, his was the Rally Blue MY98 with the v5 wing, and the aftermarket (don't know which) bumper, and of course, Minnam Turbo A small consolation considering some j/a broke into his car for the stereo right before the show!

PS: The theft happened in his home town, not at Carlisle.

Hey, I had a really great time also. Everyone was very cool. I just wish I was around the tent more Saturday, but I was all over trying to soak up as much as I could. Some very nice machines, and all the people were so nice and willing to talk/answer questions. A very nice crowd. The burnout things was kind of crazy, I think and organized burnout contest next year would save people some headaches. Bob and I saw an accident leaving the grounds on saturday, but no one looked injured, eventhough the guys VW (?) was pretty much a loss.
Thanks again everyone..

I was really hoping to find at least one stand selling parts for subarus but I guess we are just too rare. Did anyone see the crazy group of guys driving a low-rider around scraping the leaf springs on the ground? What a bunch'a nutz! We also saw a fake type-R Teg get on the dyno. Didnt see the results but a type-R auto TRANNY!? It didnt even redline at 8000! Booo. He got his front end messed up by the guys that run the dyno anyway. Ramp was a little too steep! Thats gotta hurt.

haha, I just got in a few mins ago. For all of you wondering, I was the grass covered RS. I did a few donuts in the feilds. Showed all the FWD rice what's up. The car is still covered. Pics soon I hope. I'm happy, I was the most Elite RS there!! Not only was I the only RS with the FACTORY black w/ red stiching leather (complete with the RS logo) but I was the only 4dr. hehe. I even had the pleasure of showing a rice boy what an RS is.

A friend and I were watching a car on the Dyno (an Escort Lx, my friend has one) and we were impressed by the numbers. He started talkin like he was "the man" so I jokingly challenged him to a race. A bystander asked what I drove. I told him, then he kinda laughed. I asked what that was for, he said "never heard of that." So my frind and I, went back, grabed my car, and rolled down to where he was, and showed him what an RS is.

All in all, it was a BLAST

Joel

Just got back from the 3 day excursion. The I-Club had over 30 cars from everywhere, all looking great despite the rain. We ended up collecting a few RS's from other clubs also!

I must say that not only did we have a clean presentation, but everyone remained "professional" for lack of a better word, driving in a restrained manner while on the show grounds (again standing out from the H/A/VW/DSM cars). Obviously Subaru owners care about their cars!

The grass-covered RS just showed people what the RS is for! LOL!

Lil info on the mild class winner, since he is a close friend of mine. Ray Rainier does have the Minnam stage two turbo kit with the V5 wing, erebuni front end, and leeda springs in Rally Blue MY98. The car was broken into at work the prior to the Carlisle event.

Thumbs up

The show was a blast. It was cool seeing so many Soobs in one place. Yeah there was lots of "rice" but for anyone who didn't hang around late enough on Sunday, the black Civic hatchback who was doing burnouts the night before got on the dyno and posted 223hp/180lb-ft to the wheels. I talked to him later and he seemed pretty cool. He had a greddy turbo set up and said that his last run at the drag strip was 12.3, but that was before the Quaife that he just had installed this week.

All in all, dispite the weather, it was fun to meet everyone and see all the cars. Hopefully I can make it back next year.

PS Thanks to SubyPrez and WRXPRESS for organizing

He wasn't an I-Club member, I didn't catch his name. Did ya see the LCD tv screens in his sun visors? DVD, Playstation, etc.

It used to be a Rally Blue RS!

Thanks, I had a cannon XL1 to bring to the show. However, work was so hectic on Friday that I forgot it.
