I would rather have no collision coverage than ever without comprehensive converage...I can prevent accident but I cant prevent people stealing my car unless I live in my car 24/7 with a gun

this sucks man...and it is hitting closer to home too

btw I have a friend who did the same thing (no comprehensive), I chew him out everytime I see him...

But no theft? In the tri-state? On a $25K car?

comprehensive includes theft...what I meant was that IF I want to save money, I would rather drop collision coverage...you cant live without comprehensive coverage in NYC

I don't think the owner is on NASIOC.
For what its worth, every alarm system and theft deterrant has been on at least one of the vehicles stolen since this started in August. Club, autolock, lo-jack, all kinds of fancy pants alarms, you name it, its been beaten!

The only device that has prevented a theft has been a kill of some sort. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong!

I don't know... could these even be the same guys? I doubt the E. Orange/Newark/Irvington thugs even know where Fresh Meadows is.

Later on in that thread (above) the owners says that there was no debris on the ground. So, at the very least -- they're using a similar approach to getting in and driving it away.

Its not really THAT far away considering how far spread out some of the NJ thefts have been. Morristown to Belleville is roughly the same distance as Bellville to Queens.

yes u are correct they all have been beaten but what hasn't been beaten is the AZP system. That includes each stage individually. azp and i have twurked a few cars including my own and MY car was hit but they couldn't steal it. Kinda says something for that setup i woudl think. I think most people that haven't modded thier security setup are foolish at this point. There are too many being taken especially around here to not take some precautions.

No disrespect to the AZP work. I was just pointing out that his/her question about what alarm the owner had was of little importance. In fact, I'm planning to supplement my security stuff with a couple of bits from the AZP menu.

Agreed, especially considering how little these improvements cost. For less than the price of most deductibles you can be reasonable sure that you're car will be wherever you leave it -- or maybe 10 feet away!

Just contact us for info on each stage, we've been pretty tight-lipped publically just in case the "bad" guys are watching these boards. And NO SYSTEM is undefeatable. Every system has it's limits.

The brazeness of the thieves (daylight, in front of occupied building entrances, hit and run homicide, hit and run assault on police, etc) would indicate they are real punks with no fear or concern. The likelihood that they are street gangs is real probable given the locations that many of the cars are recovered from. It wouldn't take long for the story of how to steal a car make would spread to other punks.

Having been involved with and contributed to the upgrades, I do believe the AZP pieces nicely fills in gaps in security and the circuitry is not prone to failure or accident - but Scott lets not go overboard it really is doing what any customized (i.e. non prepackaged) system should do it has added layers of frustration and discouragement to a potential thief.

trust me im from the bronx grow up around car thiefs.and i use to be a mechanic . you have to make it hard so when thay look in your car thay say fuc* that, too long to take. trust me good good locks, a fuel cut off switch. im going to give good examples of very affective products if you listen you will have a much much better chance of keeping your wrx,if you dont well say goodbye. get the multi t lock for trans so that thay cant shift your car, multi t lock for your clutch pedal so thay cant clutch.and steering wheel locks that are very very time consuming to remove ,or cant remove .trust me.here is a couple of good products :disklok and autolock 2000 cant steer with these wheel locks very very hard too remove. just remember it wont stop a flatbed from taking your ride but your chances are alot better . yea the autolock for the steering wheel is not the same company that makes the one for the clutch pedal or brake pedal that thiefs can buy club buster to remove it. these steering wheel locks aint coming off for shi* so get them.

I like the idea of the fuel kill, but that won't stop them until they're already in your car. Right now I'm looking for something more visible (to use along with the fuel kill) to discourage them from even breaking in.

The Club is easily beatable, so that's out of the question, but in the post above the autolock is mentioned, and that's not the first time I've heard about it. Anybody know anything about it? I think it's made in the UK. Can you get them in the US?

the autolok protector device which mounts on the gear shifter and
the parking brake can be defeated by either unscrewing the shift
knob or cutting it off and lifting the device from the shifter and the
parking brake lever.

the mul-t-lock is a better alternative if you plan on locking your
shifter in place. due to the size of the mul-t-lock shackle it makes
it difficult to shift even if you were to cut the shifter itself.
