I have for sale a Garmin Emap handheld GPS navigation system.
It's the size of a small, flat calculator, and uses a 12 parallel channel GPS receiver, and weighs about six ounces. This system uses 2 AA batteries, which have a life of up to 12 hours. The eMap features an internal basemap containing information on North and South America including state and country boundaries, lakes, rivers, streams, airports, cities, towns, coastlines, and U.S., state, and interstate highways. In addition, the eMap provides exit information for the federal interstate highway system. With the eMap, you will know when you are near services such as food, lodging, and service stations. The eMap is also compatible with Garmin's line of downloadable MapSourceŽ CD-ROMs, which include U.S. Roads and Recreation, WorldMap, U.S. Topo, and MetroGuideŽ U.S.A. When paired with the MetroGuide U.S.A. CD-ROM, the eMap has the ability to look up address and telephone number information for nearby services and points of interest. The eMAP also has the ability to store 8,16, or 32 megabytes of downloaded CD-ROM information at a time depending on the size of the cartridge you use in the unit (this memory card is not included btw, but if you want to take advantage of this feature, the memory card can be purchased pretty inexpensively). The Emap can be used pretty much anywhere from the car, to the hiking trail, biking trail to the beach without any problems of any sort. Accessories for this unit can be easily found at you local outdoors store, so you can go as mild or wild as you want with regards to accessories and stuff ![]() I have had this Emap for the better part of 6 months now, and am looking to sell it for 140USD shipped |

Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys...
I never upgraded the memory of the eMap simply because the maps it came with provided even more detail than I expected. I live in Canada, and this thing has all of the Canadian highways and minor roads as well. Even the small town that I live in (population of 16,000people) was on the eMap as well. If you want to upgrade the memory though, it is been suggested to me that there is no need to go past the 8mb chip simply bacause the eMaps preprogrammed maps are so detailed and extensive from the factory. I checked Garmin's website, and yes, it is a discontinued product that was replaced by a newer version. They both have identical features though. I think they just made a new exterior for the electronics. |
