Default Official "What the **** were they thinking?" Thread

Here's where you post when you are flabberghasted by another drivers actions. At least once a day I see something completely bizarre happen when I'm driving, and I'm sure everyone else does too. So Post away!

I'll start

A Chevy Blazer blows through a stop light, that I was first in line at, about 2 seconds after it had turned red. He had to have been going 50+ mph. He accelerated to hopefully make the yellow, and didn't think that their was a slight turn coming up to get back on New Seward. He/She turned the wheels with no avail and started going in the snowbank. Luckily the wheels finally caught and they were able to pull out.

I'm driving on Abbot and turning into the Fred Meyer parking lot. I am in the rightest of the three lanes and slowly taking the turn. A Green Ford Taurus in the suicide lane coming the other way tries to make the turn before the people behind me, that aren't turning, get there, so she guns it, thinking that I was going to go exceedingly fast around the sharp and bumpy corner. I saw her out of the corner of my eye and prepared for impact. Luckily she hit the brakes and the people behind me slowed down. I was hoping she was going to Blockbuster, where I was going, So I could give her a peice of my mind. She unfortunately turned into Carl's Jr. Must have been hungry.

People in this town need to slow down. You guys hear about that military guy that died while helping out a lady who ran off the road and someone hit him? Horrible, absolutely.

Now THAT sucks. I personally enjoy hearing about people that die because of stupid behavior (as long as they don't take others with them). I'm with Darwin in that respect... Of course I'm a morbid bastard that thinks people should be executed for not using their turn signals and that we need a natural disaster to wipe out half of the population because our parking lots are too damn full...and other people annoy me. Anyway, that guy dying in those circumstances pisses me off.

OK, now to the thread: Recent posts in the "Who was that" thread tell about the dancing SRT that almost gave me yellow highlights at a stoplight. Hmm...dancing SRT...that sounds like a smilie we need to join the monkey and banana...

Another recent event was on Vanguard (the road across from the new GCI store on Abbot...beside the Williams, or whatever it is). I had just pulled onto the road from Abbot, and was heading home. Suddenly, out of the first road on the right (that has a sign) comes this little minitruck with a bed cover. He didn't even attempt to stop (he wasn't going fast enough to slide through the stopsign, he could have stopped). He gunned it, trying to beat me to the corner (I had the right of way, no stopsign for me). It was enough for me to cuss him out and have to slam on my brakes and swerve. The idiot gives me this tough "I should beat your ass" look as he passes in front of me and my fingers...only to discover at that speed he can't make a sudden 90 degree turn and proceeds directly into the snowberm to my left (blocking the oncoming traffic). I stop and wait for a second while he unsuccessfully tries to back out and finds he is VERY stuck. I wait for him to look back at me, give him an approving nod, clap my hands, and continue happily on my way. For the rest of the trip down the road, I gleefully giggle every time I see his reverse lights flash on and off and he tries to pull himself out.

Too bad HE didn't die.

Andrew

ROFL,

I was driving towards new seward on abbot and a guy in a company big rig (couldn't tell what company) on the other side of the road, cuts across the first two lanes (going very fast to avoid getting hit) and flies through the suicide lane and starts coming towards me, luckily I didn't get hit, but wow, that was probably the closest one yet.

Yeah, well I can make the Kessel Run in less than TWO parsecs! I only drive like an idiot is situations where even if I lose control, no one is around to take with me.

I guess you and I are the only people that run into these kinds of drivers, Jaxxa... Everyone else should thank us for putting up with them in their stead...

Not bad! I so rarely actually get to see accidents, but I always am left to avoid other idiots trying to cause them!

I suppose you have a point as to why no one posted, but Jaxxa and I just chose the most recent or ones that stood out in our minds at that moment. I didn't hurt too bad.

I wish Mad Max road rules applied sometimes. Force the mother off the road and watch him 'splode! I would also like a couple of mounted fifties on the car, but that would ruin our sleek aerodynamic body style.

Twice today I was at the end of a line of cars (4-5?) with a good 100 yards give or take 10 yeards between us. Nobody behind me. Both times some damn idiot decides instead of waiting for me, the last freaking car to pass, they pull out in front of me. Argh.

Then I went to Eagle River today and on the way back I was in the left lane, no one else was there (plenty in the right and middle lanes). A truck...suburban I think, changes lanes in front of me and slows down to about 60 mph. I was going maybe 70-75, nothing bad. Then another truck that was in the middle lane slows down beside me so I am almost boxed in. I check my mirrors, see that I'm clear, slow down and get into the far right lane, drop to fourth for just a little extra oomph to get past both of them. They decide to speed up and try to cut me off before I can change lanes back. Riiight. I love it when trucks try to speed up and keep us out of their lane. A BMW SUV did that to me a week or two ago on New Seward. Why do they even try? Both of these particular instances I stayed in 4th and just flew by, getting into my desired lane. Then I like to slow down, with them behind me. Or better yet, pull up next to a slow car and just match speeds with him so they have nowhere to go. Jerks.

hahahahh, i do that too sometimes....catch up to someone and match their speed so any ******* driving dumb behind me has no where to go

some people really have a problem with being passed. i was also drivin out to eagle river last night, and some guy in a acura TSX was goin really slow in the fast lane, so i get in the right lane drop it into 3rd and start flyin, i pass him at about 85. and i had about 10 car lengths between us before i signalled and got into his lane. i was cruising at about 70-75, then out of nowhere, i see him catchin up real fast, then he passes me and cuts me off.... so i pass him again, but stay in the right lane this time.

same thing happened wiht someone in a tahoe and someone in an integra.....

Dood! I didn't even THINK of the scoop! What is WRONG with me!? Hell yeah, I could get FOUR car missiles under the scoop, mabye even two layers of four if I take the 'splitter out...

As for the fogs...hmmm...gotta think about that one... Maybe that can be the intake for the turbo boost/afterburners. Or maybe some sort of anti-pedestrian buzz-saws...go after the achillies tendons and ankles.

dude what are you guys talking about, the hood scoop is where the guns should go man! the headlights would be for the missles, come on its all about the 007 style. The hood scoop would hide the barrels and hte headlights could pop out and up to clear the missle tubes!

Well, there ya go. We can each make our own version. I, for one, prefer the multiple missiles, so they'll stay scooped for me. Fiddies in the headlights (I'll go with 50's for the bigger punch). But we'll hook one up for you bass ackwards of my way. No prob. Heavy support and anti-infantry... I hates me some pedestrians though, so I'm thinking of going with the buzz saws. I was also thinking lasers, but I don't want my dash lights to dim when I fire.

Jax--Turned into? What do you mean... Oh YEAH...I forgot how this all started...

PS--James Bond was British. It is our job, nay our DUTY to outclass him as Americans. Ah, hell, at least he's our ally!

I've seen lots of that kind of thing on the road. Kinda makes me nervous to be thinking about buying a brand new car this spring and subjecting it to all the mayhem.

In 2002 I was coming home from the firehall where I work and encountered a Jeep Cherokee Limited upside-down in the ditch. We'd just had a mild ice storm pass through the area. Anyway, I pulled off the road to a safe place, put on my warning lights, and went down into the ditch to check the Jeep for people.

There was nobody there, though all the lights were still on - they must have just abandoned it and walked off to get help. Just as I was calling it in, I heard, up on the road, a "skshsksh" sound...

Someone in a Ford Escort wagon doing the posted speed (40 mph) on the 1 1/2" of ice that was on top of the road, saw the car flipped over in the ditch, and locked up her brakes. She started coming my way, cranked her wheels the other direction, and hit the side of my truck just behind the driver's door, going along its length until she bounced off the rear wheel, blowing it off the rim.

Early last year we had a 50-60 car pile-up on the Trans Canada Highway near me (think interstate) because no one thought they should slow down in fog and blowing snow, and kept doing 70 mph. One of them was even quoted on TV. "I couldn't see anything and just kept going and before I knew it the traffic cones were right in front of me and then I hit the tractor trailer that was stopped."

ROFL It's good to see USA isn't the only country with horrible ass drivers. My friend drove the ALCan and said Canadian drivers were worse than USA drivers. When I drove through, I saw less bad drivers and more courteous drivers.

Today I pulled into the williams on New Seward to get some money out of the ATM. It was completely packed, but this dude just had to cut me off, so he goes ahead and does it. Then he slams on his brakes, puts it in reverse, and floors it. He -almost- clipped my front bumper, we met eyes just as I said "you f****** idiot." Anchorage has WAY too much traffic and WAY too many people without patience.
