Will a Toyo Proxes FZ-4 225/45ZR17 fit on a 17x7" wheel?
I had 205 widths on the rims before, but they were the wrong profile, so I'm getting the other size recommended on the door panel on my WRX (205/55R16 or 225/45R17). Also, is there a way to find out the widest tire size per wheel width? edit: PS. I've searched.

the narrowest recommended width for 225 is 7". some people even put 225 on 6.5" wide rims. that works, but not recommended. so yes 225 does fit on 7" wide wheel, the ukdm wrx wheels are 17x7.

I had 225/45/17 on my OZ SL's(17x7). I just switched to 215/45/17 and wished i would have gotten 225's again. The 225's look so much better.

Thank you everybody. Is there a way to calculate the maximum tire width or does is depend on the specific tire?

Each tire has a different width in the same sizes. You can go to Tirerack and lookup the section widths.
