Default Help wheels dont clear my DMS coilovers!!!

HELP!!!

I just purchased a set of ROTA tarmac 1s
17 x 7.5 48 mm offset. They clear the Wilwood big brake kit fine. Lots of room up front. They dont clear the the springs on the rear struts.

I need to find a wheel and tire combination that fit any suggestions?

Owen

Can you use different camber washers in the rear so you have more clearance?

I am running DMS 40 mm.
I do have a rather aggresive alignment both front and rear. I am looking into what my settings are and seeing if adjusting the rear alignment will give me enough clearance. My Speedline GT-1s just clear and I did have a rubbing issue with them when I first installed the struts as well.

Would a narrower tire help?
Or maybe a 5mm wheel spacer and longer studs?

I dunno if Rota offers a +40 offset which would push your wheels out a bit to get them away from the springs.
I'm glad that you posted this, I was considering a DMS kit, but didn't know if there would be fitment problems with different wheels.

I know that when SCC tested the DMS 40mm kit in 8/2003, they used an Enkei 17x7.5 wheel with a +48 offset and had no rubbing problems. Don't know what size tire they used though.

Angry Here we go again!!!

Just got 2004 STi rims and tires and of cource they dont fit either.
Any suggestions. I have gotten some suggestions....wheel spacers, camber plates, etc. Suggestions for alignments would be helpful as well. I hear the the RE-070 do not like lots of negative camber?

If you're running long springs or too low ride height, the wheel/tires can rub on the lower spring perch or the spring itself. Are your springs too long so that when you raise the lower spring perch above the tread of the tire, you're ride height is too high? If so, it sounds like shorter springs would solve the problem.

Think about it as a whole system. There's never going to be enough room for a beefy strut + another 1/2 - 3/4" for the adjusting collar next to your tire unless the tire is narrow, or your wheel has less offset.

If it is rubbing in the struts, one fix I can think of is running lower offset wheels. No matter what design you use, if it is rubbing on the strut, you will have to go lower in offset.

Of course a skinnier or lower profile tire might work also
