Default stock 02 s2000 vs stock 03 WRX?

So has neone ever gone head to head with an s2k? My friend just bought one and i am kinda getting worried. his car is completely stock and i have a catback. Should i be worried?

I'm actually interested in this as well..

what do the s2k's run in the 1/4 and how high do they trap? I'd like to think I can take the s2k next to me from a dig and a roll.. but if not someone inform me!

ummm you stand no chance against an S2k from a roll, the car is a rocket when you spin it

they run in the neighborhood of 13.7 but that's with a damn good driver, it's not much of a car built for drag racing, and don't forget on the highway you have hte aerodynamics of a brick wall where as the S2k does not. it's the auto-x BS monster for a reason.

My friend has an S2000 and the best he ever did at the track was 14.1@98. When I was stock I could muster a best of 14.3@92. Don't try it from a roll, he will walk you.

s2k costs more than a WRX. WRX has more potential and can easily be faster.

stock vs stock the more expensive car should win or its quite sad.

s2k about 14.1 WRX about 14.3 id say

and the WRX will NEVER handle like the S2k, the S2k is a track car, not a go fast in a straight line car

Couldn't be said better! The S2K is a REAL sports car (two seater and RWD).

Do you guys think i could stand a SLIGHT chance? I have a basic TBE/Uppipe/EBC (16lbs) everything else stock and he has a 2002 w/ a Ice box intake. I know that S2k's are crazy cars, but i'm just curious.

S2000's never really appealed to me. You really have to rev the crap out of them to get decent performance AFAIK. whatever the q/t time, I'd rather the WRX because in most conditions, it'll simply be a better car.

No doubt on the limtis the S2000 is a weapon. But for those dollars, turbo a MX-5 and you'll give a S2000 a right royal rogering.

when i had my s2k i was very impressed with the handling. no doub a serious contender, autocrossing wise. but 1/4 it'll cost you alot more to get your s2k into the 12s. it just depends on your taste. love my wrx, raced alot of s2ks and haven't lost yet. insurance is alot cheaper for the rex

I just traded in my S2000 for a STI and there are lots of differences. Stock S2 and WRX are about the same in the 60 and 1/4. But I can tell you one certain thing is that the handling of the S2 is in a class of its own. I definately can say, since I was a owner of an S2000 for 2 1/2 years, is that the feel of the steering on the STI doesn't come close to the S2. Coming from a car that has superior handling, and I am not FLAMING my own STI, the S2 feels more glued to the road. The STI has killer handling in its own rights, but you can't have the best of both worlds and not decrease in something else. Aftermarket parts can give the STI or WRX the enhancements where it really needs and doesn't (hmmm MORE POWER ). I love my STI, but too bad I couldn't keep the S2 for a third car. This is the most torque I ever had in any car. Did I tell you that I love my STI.

I got smoked by an S2k with a vortech supercharger and nothing more. My car also has about 300whp. We were neck and neck through 3rd gear and then top end that thing walked away. Granted I needed some tuning to be done after just installing a new exhaust, but I still think he would've beat me. The power to weight ratio alone is incredible on those things. Not to mention the 9k rpm limit. Very impressive.

This comparison should never have been made. You're comparing apples and oranges.

As much as I enjoy my WRX...the S2000 is a WAY more fun car to drive (I needed a trunk and 4 seats). Here I go making a comparison that should never be made.
