Default Grill Mesh - DIY

Let's see if the link works...

Gutter Guard at Home Depot, just right size for under 5 bucks. Split into 2 (hood latch space), snip around, make sure surface is as smooth as possible, then bolt them down with small screws and nuts. I used hex screw with round head for invisibility. Works fine to fend off small rocks CDOT uses when it snows.

Hey hatake, looks great!

What's the makeup of gutter guard, stainless steel etc?

Humm, I didn't pay attention to it... Something that doesn't rust, obviously from its original intended use (gutter), I assume. The mesh itself is a cut-type (as opposed to braided) that edges are a bit rough. But I really don't care how it looks as long as it blocks small rocks. My Impreza radiator was filled with rocks/bugs/garbage after 4 years, and that just got me concerened with turbo. Also there is this store called Container Store that sells tall/large garbage can with finer mesh. Take that appart and you can make a better (painted - I saw pink!) mesh. I also got a roll of, again, different gutter guard (this one is a thin wire-braided AL mesh, lots whimpier than one used in grill, but wires are so thin, they wouldn't block the air) at less than $5 and made an IC screen. It just rests on the IC core. I used to have an AL window screen inserted between IC rubber duct and hood, but window screen had too much wind resistence.

Next project - DIY turbo heat escape, or resonator removal (but I have to take a sick day to do this while the Wife is at work - she has a tendency to take a sick day when I take one ).
