$36 Ebay Short Shifter

So I decided to take the gamble and buy the $$36 ebay short shifter. Got it in, not bad quality at all. Except that it doesn't fit!!!

Here's a copy of the email I just sent to them. We'll see what happens... The pics in the email show how far it is from fitting, where it attaches to the linkage is much too small...

The last 2 pics show the difference in size most dramaticly. The car in
the pictures is a 2002 SUbaru Impreza WRX, possibly the shifter you
sent could have been intended for a different car. Please email me back
with how you'd like to handle this...

hehe, that is a RS (GC8) short shifter, I had bought a WRX short shifter for my RS from a guy and it was just the opposite or your pictures, stock was narrow, WRX was wide and wouldn't fit...

I have one of those in my 03 wrx sedan. All you need is some washers! ACE IS THE PLACE!

by the looks of that i dont think it will be much shorter tho
look at the length of the upper half

The upper half has relatively little to do with the throw. The lower part under the knuckle is where the shortness comes from.

The shifter doesn't look much different than yours. How is it supposed to shorting the shift throughs?

I bought the same short shifter from Ebay. It works pretty well if you get some washers and it does shorten the throw a bit. You get what you pay for I guess. The toughest part was getting the ball into the socket. I was finally able to get it to go in by jamming a large screwdriver through the hole and using some leverage.

A block of wood and a rubber mallet my friend. That's how I did it.

I never trust ebay it just isnt worth it.
