Default Will this tire fit?

Ok I have been looking at tires latly and a lot of different sizes. Ok the final size I believe I'm goign to go with is a 255/35R18. But my problem is that it says that the won't fit less than a 8.5" rim, but on my rims now I have a 245/45R18 and yet it looks that I could squeze the 255s on. My rims are 8 inches wide. Also at my work we have the tire mounter with the helper arm on it, so I should be able to get these on.

If you're talking about the rotas you showed in the other thread, they are 7.5" wide, not 8. I have seen an accident caused because a guy was driving hard with tires that were too wide for his wheels. One of the tires literally popped off. I would stick with the tire manufacturers recommendations.

I have a feeling that the second you drive hard at all on those tires, they will rub all over the place. If you get them to work, then more power to you!

Even if you get them on, the sidewalls and shoulders will be rounded. This will reduce the contact patch, negating any advantage of the wider tire. You'll have the same contact patch, but just more weight. I wouldn't do it.

Also, what vehicle are these going on? I assume you at least have the fenders rolled, or maybe even a wide body kit?

Do you have a widebody kit? Because there's no WAY that size tire would fit otherwise.

no widebody kit, it will fit with some modifications of some things.

I have already currently mounted a 245/55 18 on my 18s and will fit in the wheel well being 3 ins from stock height. I will need to raise it up a inch though.

So you are raising the car to fit HUGE wheels and tires. I am assumming they "stick out" past the fender?

Question...why?

I'd like to see some pics of 245/55/18's on an RS.

If I turn the wheel it will rub, thats the reason for the 1 inch raising the car. I need to raise it anyways.
