Default Center Cap for Prodrive Wheels and Tarmac II?

This may be in the wrong section, but the stock ROTA Tarmac II center caps look weak - Does any one know if the Prodrive stuff works in place?

or

oh and b4 you guys comment "poser" I will have Prodrive in the car as soon as it is available... the Tarmac II's for winter are so much more economical but the weak link is the black R cap.

I doubt it as the Rotas are hubcentric and the Prodrives are not. My *guess* would be that, no, they won't work.

You can see if SubyDude.com has color-matched center caps for the Tarmac II. I have them on my SDRs;

I'll be getting Prodrive caps soon... But they'll be attached to my GC-010s.

My color matched ones are on backorder from SubyDude. Gold is popular - I waited 6 weeks for the wheels and now 3 weeks for the centers...

Mav1C, why will they not work? Hole different size or depth for the clips?

It's a totally different diameter and cap lock so it will not work.

If you don't like the R logo, just peel of the emblem.

Wrong. Both are hubcentric. I have P1's so I know this. (No trim rings.)

The problem is how the caps are secured. The Prodrive P1 cap has a round spring clip and very deep plastic tabs. From the look of the caps on www.subydude.com, the Rota caps have a different retaining mechanism with very shallow tabs.

I suppose you could get really creative with some glue or something. If you really want, I have an old P1 cap with all the tabs broken off. If you want to Paypal me $1 for postage, I could send it to you to experiment with.

Well your P1s are made by OZ and are Subaru specific. The Prodrive Japan wheels (GC-06D, GC-07C, GC-010) are made for Bridgestone by Volk/Rays and are NOT Subaru specific. My GC-07Cs were definitely not hubcentric, I bought billet hub rings for them. Comparing P1s to the Prodrive Japan wheels is apples and oranges.

peepshow - there was a batch of early subzero that were not hubcentric but they've all been hubcentric for more than a year and a half now.

I know, s_d, that's why I said the Prodrive center caps won't work. The Prodrive Japan wheels are NOT hubcentric, the Rotas are.
