I hate tankbags. They are ghey and get in the way.

I own a few backpacks and wear one when I ride to work (wear sidi boots on the ride, bring dress shoes in the backpack).

i've got rka tank, tail, and saddle bags that i'm happy with. i think the link is www.rka-luggage.com

tankbags and tailbags are good. backpacks bad. the weight of whatever you're carrying is on you, so it's more tiring. plus consider what might happen if you crash and land on your back.

Tank bags are the best. I have a MARSEE, and practically live out of it during the riding season. Its very well built, after two seasons and about 20k, it looks practically new. I just wish I had gone with the expandable bag. My advice would be to get a larger bag, as you're gonna find all kinds of uses for it on the bike once you start using it. I can carry twelve packs in my bag, which makes it great for camping, and doing a beer run. I can do weekend trips with just the tank bag if I pack carefully, and bungee net my rain gear on the back of the bike. The map window on top is also great, makes checking my route a simple matter of pulling over for a few seconds, and not having to dig for the map, its right there. Paying tolls is a breeze with all the easy access pockets, and you can rest your chest on the top while highway riding for longer rides. I don't wearing like back packs because they do get heavy on longer rides, have too many straps, and aren't that comfortable in the riding position. For shorter rides I prefer a courier bag, that is meant for being on a bike of some sort, and I will bungee this to the tail for longer rides. My courier bag is also waterproof, so I don't have to worry about my stuff getting wet.
