Default For those using WRX exhaust

What fitment issues did you run into with the axle back portion? Does anyones piping sit way too low? Just wondering......

No problems at all. Sits perfectly. Did you get it onto the transmission exhaust hanger?

No. The problem I'm having is with the axle back portion. It seems that when it bends down that it sits too low to the ground and that the center hanger on the axle back doesn't go high enough for the hanger on the car.

The WRX exhaust will not perfectly mount up to the chassis. The hangers should all match up except for the one just forward of the backbox. This hanger was moved on the newer chassis and cannot be used on the older chassis unless the exhaust hanger on the chassis or the exhaust is moved.

However, it doesn't seem to be needed if all other hangers are in good condition and are used. The height should be pre-determined by the soft exhaust hangers and the rigidity and movement should be hampered by the transmission exhaust mount.

I can take a pic or two showing that it sits fine on my car. In any case, it looks factory.

Hmm, exhaust hangers. Thanks Jon. Probably new hangers would give me a few inches.

You haven't had any problems with it hitting the road on some bumps? Maybe PA roads are really that bad.

Hey man, I know it's a different car. But on mine, when I switch axlebacks, I have to loosen the 2 spring bolts at center section and sometimes remove them entirely to properly align the piping up. I saw your exhaust hanging real low when you left and just attributed to less muffler. Hope it works for you.

I had that hanger (the one that doesn't mate up) relocated. I know that hanger is very close to my rear sway bar. But, I have a 3" exhaust (Borla hush) and mine doesn't appear to be quite that low.

Is that metal hanger by itself resting on your underside? Looks like it in pic. May need to cut that hanger off the piping to allow exhaust to go up. You could take off a few inches off it's length then have it tacked back on if you get a rubber hanger for it.

That hanger isn't that far off from the rubber hanger. Get it to bend over towards the rubber hanger and that should bring it up quite a bit.

How does it sound?

Yeah, my rear shocks are no good. I have JIC coilovers ready to go on though, if/when I do an AWD swap.

Oh yeah, it's Tein S-Techs on stock struts.
