Wink Rollcage? Do you know where and how much?

I want to get a rollcage installed in my car. I want the SCCA approved and i was gonna go to Rallispec but they want around 2000.00 and i want to see if anyone knows where you can get one for cheaper, or if that is a good price. Let me know! thanks
chris
BTW They (rallispec) do a great job at not screwing up the interior. I want it to look good!!!

i mentioned this on a nother post but i didnt see the answer.. does anyone know if a rollcage is dangerous in a daily driven car? (not wearing a helmet + possible rollover = your head banging all over the rollcage instead of the soft interior materials?)

?

from most of the roll overs I've seen in this car, it'd probably be better to have your head bang against the bar then to have the roof come crashing down on your skull and trying to support the weight of the car on your neck... of course you could always wear a helmet, or even better, don't roll the car... =)

Question

If its your dalily driver. u should be smart enuff to know u shouldn't drive reckless enuff to roll over. but if its the other persons falt id rather have the roll cage. and wory bout my head hitting the bar after i worry if the roof if going to cavin my skull.

but if its my daily i'd worry more bout getting in and out easy.

Question

Speaking of helmets... I was talking with a friend, and they suggested that it was illegal to wear a helmet while driving. Now, it seems silly to me for helmets to be illegal while driving on public roads. Does anyone know if helmets are legal or not?

Rollbar padding helps to some degree.

To be sure, it's best not to have a cage in a daily driven car... especially if there is insufficient headroom.

rollcages and bars are cheap. it's the cost of the labor to install them that kills you. $2000 sounds right - if you want the job done correctly. and in the case of a rollcage, do you really want to cut corners with something that is supposed to protect your life in the event of an accident?

That's why they put the padding on the bars around where the driver's head would come into contact. MUST get the padding(whoever makes the cage will have the padding)-A good knock on the noggin from a cold steel metal bar-not fun.

Cool

well when i get into the Prorally i will need this, but Rallispec does have a good name. I know hairpin got thiers done at a local NASCAR shop. They got a deal to, from what i heard! I just want to know where the best place is to get them installed, Subie gal....Can you do me a favor and source it out for me and see what they would cost for a nice built-in rollcage. I want one that doesn't mess up the interior. I have seen some shady jobs and i want mine to look kosher, and hold up, ya know? Cause if there is one for like 1500.00 out there i would waste 300 on the trip out there to do it. Then i couls buy other stuff or plan a trip out there to yellowstone, whatever!
thanks
chris

Thumbs up

$2000 is a screaming bargain! For a true custom cage that ties in to the suspension mounting points and is actually safe, as opposed to being "just" SCCA legal, you should expect to pay $2000-4000. The better the shop the more it costs.

We're talking about rallying here--you WILL roll. Even if you don't care about your personal safety, a good cage will keep the car straight in a crash. You'll save the extra up-front cost in repair bills.

Actually, in all the rule books you MUST have padding on any bar that your head may come into contact with. As for cost of a cage...how much is your life worth to you? I dont think helmets in a car are approved for daily driving, visbility is rather poor peripherally (sp) and I think you'd get pulled over rather quickly....

Why are you worried about your interior if your going to drive the car seriously enough or race the car? If your going to get a approved cage then its going to have to go in somewhere. Kiss the backseat goodbuy along with the door panels and part of the dash.
