Post SE Michigan Suspension Install Party Pictures

pretty self explanitory, the silver car you can see next to me (in Carharts) is Steve's 1967 Porsche 912 project......

the stud holding up the strut is redbaron.

Ah... snow... well I wish I could see the Pacific ocean and 70 degrees right now...
I guess the grass (snow) is always greener (whiter) on the other side.
We had a good time this weekend, and I am sure Fred and Jeff will 'celebrate' with their new suspensions ASAP.

Cool

Hey chillN 2.5RS,
We had donuts and coffee. That makes it a party! If it were an afternoon install, we would have had beer. We did go out for a few pints afterwards, and then we played around with Steve's slot cars. Steve, your slot car set-up is pretty awesome by the way. Cool pics guys. The tool rules!

Hey, nice pics everyone! You're gonna love the P1 suspension...

I can see the ocean from here, and it's nice and warm... but we can't seem to do any low speed drifting or rain work on this end!!!

Cool

I guess I should do a mini review of my setup. I have the V5 struts with 5Ziggen R springs. (Jeff has the P1) It is very stiff. I thought at first it was a smoother ride, but the truth is it's only smoother over the bigger bumps. I can attribute that to the huge V5 struts. I can feel a lot more of the smaller bumps with the stiffness of the setup. I'll let you know about cornering when the roads get better. Dry roads are the only time I can really push the car to it's real limits. Before I get flamed, let me explain: I do push the car in the rain and snow. It's capabilities in bad weather are fantastic. Those are only rain and snow limits though. I need dry conditions to really test the car at it's max.

There is an added benefit to your tool. You will be able to do the same operation on the front struts for any Yugo fitted with Koni inserts

The tool i built for my Yugo, worked perfectly when I instaled KYB AGXs on my '99 RS.

See, and you thought it couldn't get any better!

Wink

Nice tool, looks like a 17mm deep socket with a cheap wrench welded to it. Cheaper than getting the real tool from SPX Kent-Moore, I'm sure.

SPX Kent-Moore?! What the hell do they have to do with anything here! My mom used to work for them back when they were called Sealed-Power. They did get me tickets to the 1987 Detroit Grand Prix. I love F-1! Anyway, it was a 17mm socket welded to a cheap wrench. It worked like a charm. That and my (oh, by the way) spring compressors made the day much easier than it could have been. I am kind of upset that there were no pics of my purdy blue springs here!

Hey Guys........ Whats up Backseat boys!!!!!

Super pleased with the P-1,

The car is at the dealer getting the tranny fixed. They said it's a jammed slip ring, I don't know the real name for it, but its made out of brass, and its supposed to freewheel until you engage first but it was siezed on the gear. They said it was nothing major and should be fixed within a couple of days.

yup, that's all it is, a 17mm cheap socket welded to a cheap 17mm wrench. worked like a charm. Both parts came out of the junk drawer and were free.

about half of the "specialty" tools here at Suby R&D were constructed in that same way.

Thumbs up

MichiganRS,
The 5Ziggen springs lowered my car about 1.5" front and rear. It looks cool, I must say. I haven't heard anything about any upcoming meets. Maybe after the new year.

Fred
