Im sure the engine, and tranny drops right on in. with the 6speed im sure youll have to change out axles, and you most likly will need your RS drive shaft for the swap.

I would bet that it can be done with out fabrication. Call around to different shops when your serios and ask them. Shops of course that have delt with GC8's, wrx's, and the new STI would be best.

Axles go from the tranny to the wheels. It's what makes the wheel spin. You can't reuse the RS driveshaft because the 6 speed requires a shorter shaft since it is longer. This needs either an auto shaft or the original 6 speed shaft, but I'd assume you are getting that with your parts or parts car. I don't think the suspension will work. It may fit, but not properly. Spindles is a good question, not sure on that, you may have to change a few things in order to get them to work.

You should also be aware that the STi has a fly by wire throttle body. I would retrofit a regular cable one, but don't know how the ECU deals wit that. If you are going to keep it you're going to need the pedal box or at least the electronics from the pedals because the pedals themselves probably won't fit into the older chassis.

i am actually the friend of bebegdb that is planning to do the swap...
i just want to know if it is worth it for me to get the gdb parts... bcuz i am not sure how much of it i will be able to use on the gc8....
i dont really care about the suspension, but i just want all the other things to work, ie. the engine, tranny, crossmember, all shafts and axles, brakes spindles... etc...

help would be appreciated thanks

Thumbs up

I'm pretty sure the engine/transmission mounts are different, which is why when you buy the STi Group N sets, they're different models from the GC to GD cars.

If you get it done, PLEASE tell us about it. Very exciting.

Stiffness may vary, but they all bolt up. I haven't investigated the 6MT transmission mount yet though.

You would be best benefitted by a search since most of this has been covered before.

What fits all depends on what part you try to hook up to what part. Basically if you take a complete ver 8 car, drop down everything from it and pull it up under your rs then a lot of the current new parts will work.
If you want to mix and match, then you will have to figure out what will work with what.
The new crossmember will bolt into your car.
you can use your second part of your current drive shaft with the new auto driveshaft or recut your current drive line.
motor mounts set in the same place on all the cars at least position wise, i don't know about height though.
6 speed mount is only a little different than the 5mt mount, but will still bolt into the car with no problems

There is a ton of other stuff and this is just a start.
Good luck
Brent
