Default HVAC Dead! I'm freezing.

got my car a couple days ago (01rs with ej20), and had great heat for that time period. then this morning when i came into work, NOTHING! air wasn't even blowing... and it's like 0 degrees here in Chicago... so is there a fuse or something simple that might have come loose? i'm probably just gonna take it in, but thought i'd ask here first to see if it's possibly a common problem in swaps.... thanks guys.

many things can go wrong. I have all parts taken apart if you want to see. no air blowing at all eh. I would check fuse first. The the plugs. There are um 2 plugs I believe. Sorry I am real tired I will answer this later. ZZZZ time be back in couple hours!

I had this problem too. Turned out, I didn't have the blower connector in. Check your fuse and if that is ok, pull your glovebox and check your connector at the blower. If the connector is there, start checking voltages to make sure it is getting to the blower.

As AWJunkies said, there are two conenctors there. The upper connector should be to your A/C evap temp sensor and the lower one should be your blower motor.

The plugs are on the blower motor assembly behind the glovebox. They are kind of obvious with that removed. If I remember correctly, there should not be any disconnected plugs on that side, in that location.

Default update!

hey guys... just thought i'd give a quick update in case anyone cared... well, i'm no mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, but i managed to fix my problem by pulling back the carpet and pushing all the wires i could find a little more snug into their harness. ::side note-my car has a utec, and there are wires all over the friggin place down there:: in any case, started the car back up and by some miracle, i have blowing air with heat! i couldn't figure out what the blower motor was, so i just made everything a little more snug. i guess that did the trick.

question though... does the UTEC have anything to do with the HVAC controls? i don't know what i did, but it worked, so i'm happy as long as this doesn't keep hapening every day...

thanks again guys

that would definitely be worse. why don't you fix that? or have it fixed somewhere? can't be too difficult. not that i would know.

well the new update with my heat is that it comes and goes.... i think it's gotta be the blower wires that are loose, cuz when i push around the wires a little bit (the UTEC and any others i can touch), it tends to come back.... this sucks. i'm taking it in for a couple other things, i'll have them look at this too....

later

Did they run the blower and stuff off the Integrated Unit or is it apart from the WRX wiring? If it is part of the Integrated Unit, then that was unnecessary. If it is apart from the WRX wiring, then it should be fine

If you paid to have it done then take it back and have them fix it. Nothing should be intermittant because that indicates a broken plug, bad soldering job, or a cut wire.

jon- what do you mean by "integrated unit"??? are you talking about the UTEC here? I don't quite understand what you mean.

i am the 3rd owner of this car since it's been swapped. the swap was done by people at Prestige Subaru in South Carolina. They have a good reputation from what i've read, but this car definitely seems to be somewhat "ghetto-rigged".... should be a fun time.

It is a mini-ECU of sorts in the WRX that controls miscellaneous functions like rear defrost, HVAC, and a couple others I think. I bypassed mine and used the existing wiring configuration for those functions.

Could be anywhere. It was on the driver's side on the WRX. Might not even be in there...

Well senomar since your in the Chicago area we have dealerships, but what Im trying to say is most around the area suck. I havent met one person that has been happy when taking their car to the dealership. Some places that come to mind are Schaumburg Subaru and ROTO Subaru. Ask the guys in the MWIC forums and see what they say.
