Default Removing airbags ?

Hi all, when i start my coversion i would like to remove the airbags in my 96 legacy. They are still good, not wrecked. So what i'm wondering is it as easy as just removing all the wires, sensors, and all the asociated stuff? Yeah, i know you have to take apart half the car to do this, but it will be apart anyway.
Will this cause any problems with anything in the car?
I plan to do this for several reasons:
1. There will be lowering/higher rate springs and struts installed. I've read that the tow hooks if hit hard enough will trigger the airbag's deployment. I figure with the car being lowered and having a firmer ride not to mention living in montana this might not be such a bad idea.

2. Weight savings. I think i can take 20 pounds off the car with ease.

Anyone think this is a bag or a good idea?
Brent

um...I plan on taking mine out when I get four point harnesses in the car...so according to me no and living in montana you a car only but how often I have never heard of the bags going on from lowering a car though. Besides both triggers have to be tripped before the bag goes off.

I've read this several times over the past couple of years. When you harshen the ride the car hits harder on bumps and can set them off. I don't know of anybody personally that has experienced this, i've just heard of it.
I'm more paranoid of hitting a parking stop with both of the tie downs in the front of the car. Subaru has posted a technical service bulletin over this. Guess what they did to cure the problem? They cut off the front tow/tie down hooks! What a bunch of hacks .
So i figured instead of cutting them off, remedy the problem by removing the airbags and saving some weight while i'm at it.
