Default HP Evo Wheels on GC8? Fender Well Space - 01vs 02+

Im looking for a lower offset wheel for my 01 RS. Im curious if anyone has these wheels on their impreza? They come in 17x7.5 +38 and 18x8 +38. I really wanted a 8" width wheel, but if the GC's dont have that much fender well space then Ill resort to the 17x7.5. Id rather have a 17" wheel anyways.

I guess my main questions are the fender wells as big as the 02+ model imprezas? It seems you guys can fit 17x8 +38 offset just fine. Just curious if they would fit the same in my 01.

Thanks again!

Here is a pic of the wheels. Damn sexy for a wheel you can get for 700$ Shipped. No idea what they weight though

+38 is way too low. You WILL rub guaranteed and it will most likely cause premature wheel bearing failure, too.

I see that the 02 and newer can run a 8" +38 offset and it perfectly flush with the fenders. Im just really curious if the fender wells are the same size as the GC models... Im thinking it is smaller, so I might just go with the 17x7.5.

I dont care about the wheel bearings. I think its a faulse rumor, and noone can tell me otherwise

02 and newer sedans can run that low of an offset because of the fender flares. You and I don't have fender flares, so we are SOL.

Take it from me, I've already replaced 2 wheel bearings, it's not a false rumor.

How about +45mm, 17x7.5? Does this offset fit lowered GC?

Yes. Most people running ROTA wheels are running a 17x7.5" at +48mm offset.

I run some Rota Tarmac's at that size. Using Yokohama AVS ES100 tires, 215/45/17.

Some people can run the 225 tire size, depending on brand name(they all have different actual measured widths) and suspension mods. Cars that are lowered are more likely to have rubbing. A suspension setup like the STi, or Eibach stuff seem to be fine, usually. However, more agressive setups seem more prone to issues. It's a slippery slope in that area, though.

Tire size seems to be the main variable though. If you get a 215 width, most people end up OK.
