Default trouble starting with mobil 1

I recently changed my oil and put in mobil 1 for the first time. Immediately following the oil change I noticed that the car starts up differently and does not rev to 2k rpm and hold around 1.5k like it usually did. It seems to only do this when I am starting the car up warm, meaning I have driven it earlier in the day or just shut off the car. In this case, the car only revs to about 600rpm and then idles at 500.

are you sure it's at 500? if it's at the mark between the 0 and 1000, then that's actually at 750....if you look carefully, that mark is not at the half way mark

anyways, tha's where the idle should be

Thats the right idle if the car is warm.
try it cold.. can check your dipstick.. but i seriously doubt there's anything wrong.

The oil you're running would have ZERO impact on your cold fast idle. Something else is wrong (if it's even wrong).

Also, as someone else pointed out. The mark on the tach that you think is 500 rpm isn't... it's 750rpm. 750-800rpm is normal warm idle.

If I'm reading correctly, when the car is cold it revs to 2000, then idles at 1500. When its warm it idles at 750. Both are totally normal. Maybe you just didn't notice before the oil change where it idles?

okay it does make sense that the car idles around 500 when it is already warmed up. I did notice the change in starting up exactly after I changed the oil to synthetic. Sometimes it only revs to around 500 and I'm concerned because the car clearly feels like its going to stall.

thanks for the tip. I guess it does idle a little higher than I thought, but I'm mostly concerned with how the car is starting up, not so much the idle. Sometimes it will rev to only 600 or so and then dip down to almost 0 before coming back to a steady idle.

That is odd. Check the vacuum hoses; maybe you loosened one when you did the oil change.

What weight oil did you put in? Did you put in something to thick for your temperature?
