No CEL after DP install

I just installed the invidia dowpipe on my car. Love it. But I didn't install any CEl fixes, yet no CEL has come on. Is there any explaination ehind this, or are there some random cars that don't need to install a CEL fix????

Mine didn't come on until about 3 or 5 months later... who knows...it's strange.

Yea I didn't get mine for 5 months. But it'll come eventually.

5th gear cruising at 65mph then a blinding flash of light.

Same here, i installed my downpipe and no cel then.......3 weeks later i got a cel

. I guess it just depends on how long it takes your computer to recognize the prob.

Now i've got a MIL eliminator, and too lazy to install it

Same as drunkguy. Mine came on in 2 days and I've yet to install the MIL eliminator. You should order one for when the time comes

When I put my dp on I got a cel later that day. I had a mil eliminator but was too lazy to install it so I got a Cobb stage 2 reflash and now the light is gone.....

and oh yeah, my car is also much faster.

It depends on the type of driving you do. The ECU does its catalyst efficiency testing when the car is at operating temperature and at steady throttle for an extended period, such as highway driving. If you do mostly or exclusively local stop-and-go type driving it is possible to go for quite some time without getting the P0420 CEL, but once you take a highway drive it will come on.

I was "racing" my brother in his GTI about a week after installing my Invidia tbe, and sure enough that wonderful CEL popped up! I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Haven't had any problems since installing the MIL eliminator.

**Note: I don't condone street racing in any way.**

I had the same experience. After the new downpipe I drove local for 50 miles and no CEL.

Went on the highway for about 20 miles and got a CEL.
