Post Need a quick help! (Disputing with a buyer on Ebay)

There is a buyer on Ebay defrauded on me. Anyways, my questions are: What is an intake system? What is an air filter? Are they the same or different?

Please help, I-Club members...!!

Here's a picture of an intake, which happens to include an air filter.

Here's another one (it's the big silver pipe looking thing) that hooks to your stock air box & filter.

Post a picture of what you got, someone can tell you what it is.

hmmm....

I don't know why I'm bothering but all I can say to help is they are:

different.

Everycar has an intake and a filter.
You can easily and cheaply change the filter.
If you change the Intake then depending on what kind of intake you buy you may need to also buy a filter to work with it.

Ok, let me eplain the full story.

I won an auction on E-bay, the product that the seller described to me is a "Nakayama Short Ram Intake", the product has arrived but a 30 days delay. But that's not the problem, the problem is what he sent it to me is only an "AIR FILTER".

My question is: did he defraud me?

Hell yeah!!! A Short Ram is an Intake with about a 6-9 inch piping with the filter. He suckered you man! Thats why you have to be careful with EBAY.

You can post a complaint to Ebay about the seller. You can also post negative feedback on him. Best case senario is that you can have him banned from Ebay. The only problem is that he can re-register under a new email address.

Good luck...

I have already posted a complaint to Ebay about the seller. And also have posted an negative feedback on him.

This is my last reply to the seller: << Man, you really cheated on me, what you gave me is an air filter, NOT AN INTAKE, you FOOL!! >>

And that's what the seller replied to me: The intake for your car is a filter with adapter.

Is that acceptable?

Nope. He said it was a "Short Ram Intake". If it only was a filter, then he should have said so.

Is it a drop in replacement, or a conical one like mine?

With prices like these it should include a short pipe.
Regular price: $140.00

Sale price: $95.00

EBay Starting Bid: $75

Try contacting the other bidder that also won with you on this piece. See what they received. Maybe it was an shipping error. It should be like what DCH pictured above with the filter and intake pipe.
Start an Email campaign(vts@one.net). Have fellow I-Club members write in with comments about screwing one of their members.

You should read ebay policies regarding customer satisfaction, returns, etc.

It will guide you in good detail, how to resolve issues with sellers and potential misleading advertising.

If you've been frauded, there is insurance provided by e-bay.

In the meantime, do what I do and don't bid on anything that does not have a picture available.

I'm with Kyle on this one... I'd never bid on anything without a picture unless I could email the person and get pics before buying/bidding.

Personally I just don't go on Ebay and buy stuff... too much stuff, too little money.

Yeah unless there is a picture and one taken by the seller (not from the product company webpage) DO NOT BUY. If they can't take the time to get a picture taken then they are either lazy or hiding something. Either way, you don't want to buy from them.

Try this "PS2 original box and receipt", starting bid is like $299 already. The auction ended @ $400. When the buyer open the package from seller, it was only a box and a receipt!!!

I guess everyone should read and ask exact what he will get before making bid.....

Ebay - Fraud Reporting and Insurance Claim Form Update: (Long)

I am getting tired with this....!! @_@

03/22/2001 03:58 PM - FROM: tigo004
--------------------------------------
The Seller (vtechsports) was selling a "Nakayama Short Ram Intake" (please refer to the item# 559812821). However, what the seller end up sent me is only an "auto air filter" with no brand on it, please help, I am so frustrated.

03/22/2001 04:28 PM - FROM: vtechsports
--------------------------------------
The buyer has not contacted me whatsoever regarding this dispute of fitment or brand of the product. The products I sell are model-specific, and look different depending on make and year of car. I will need the buyer to contact me directly in order to get anything resolved. Since they haven't contacted me AT ALL regarding this, I cannot do anything without any specifics.

03/22/2001 05:54 PM - FROM: tigo004
--------------------------------------
The Seller has defrauded me, because A Short Ram Intake is an Intake with about a 6-9 inch piping with the filter. But it is not just only the air filter itself!

03/22/2001 07:58 PM - FROM: vtechsports
--------------------------------------
Defraud is a rather large word, considering I sold the customer an intake made specifically for their car. The correct procedure for a complaint would have been to contact me FIRST regarding this, to try and resolve the issue. Without ANY direct contact from the customer, there is nothing I can do.

03/22/2001 08:48 PM - FROM: tigo004
--------------------------------------
I am contacting directly with the buyer through E-bay, why would the seller shame to contact me in this board? What the seller selling to me was a "Nakayama Short Ram Intake", which should include a "6-9 Inch Piping" with an air filter, that's what a short ram intake should be. However, what I've received from the seller is only the "Air Filter". A "6-9 Inch Piping" is missing, that's no doubt about it.

03/22/2001 09:31 PM - FROM: vtechsports
--------------------------------------
No where on the ad is there a description of piping. Via email, I said that all necessary equipment was included to install the filter. On some Mass air flow sensors, all necessary hardware is already on the car from the factory, including hose clamps.

03/23/2001 07:24 AM - FROM: tigo004
--------------------------------------
Without a piping, that would be an "Air Filter" and won't be a "Short Ram Intake". The buyer has defrauded me on the products between a "Short Ram Intake" and an "Air Filter". What the buyer sent to me is just an "Air Filter", NOT a "Short Ram Intake". I would like the buyer to send me rest of the parts for my "INTAKE", including the piping in order to satisfy my complain.

03/23/2001 07:34 AM - FROM: vtechsports
--------------------------------------
An Air Filter would replace the stock filter inside an air box. The cone shaped air intake which I sent is considered RAM AIR, because it replaced the air box.

03/23/2001 04:47 PM - FROM: tigo004
--------------------------------------
NO, an intake is more than an "air filter" cmon intake = filter and piping! Again, the seller were having a misleading description and advertising on the acution. Remember what the seller selling was a "Nakayama Short Ram Intake", I have asked many expertise in the field; An Intake comes with "A Air Filter and A Piping", that's no doubt about it! Finally, I just want to tell the seller that I "WILL" complain my case till the end.

We could all set up free hotmail e-mail accounts, register with ebay, and bid ridiculous amounts on all his auctions and never pay. How about pinging his website with unlimited 64meg loopbacks so noone can access his accounts. (an offshore server is recommended for that one... any Aussies out there?) If you used a credit card I would just claim cc fraud and demand that the card reverse the charges.

How about we just find out where he lives and slap him around a bit?!?!

Hmmm...one.net. That's the same local ISP I use(Cincinnati). I wouldn't recommend mail bombing him. OneNet doesn't play games with that stuff(don't ask my why I know, I was a stupid internet punk a few years ago, too). I looked around locally, can't find a shop with a similar name, and none of the people into that stuff have heard of him. He could be up in Dayton or Indy, though. Maybe Oxford. Worst came to worst, you could complain to OneNet that he's using his account to commit fraud, and they could suspend it, but I doubt it. I think you're screwed. Problem is, there's no picture or specific description of what he's sending you. The responsibility kind of goes back to you. And since you attacked him on Ebay already, I doubt he'd be willing to refund the sale now. Anyways, good luck!
