Default staggered wheels on a sti???

i know this sounds kinda stupid or probably very stupid but with the dccd on on my 95 sti, how would it be if i run 18x9.5 in the fronts and 18x10.5 in the rear. i found a set of of meisters for cheap but they are staggered. i'm not worried about fitment problems but would the staggered wheels mess up my car and performance.

in THEORY no, as long as you can insure identical rolling diameter size... however, I have heard of subaru's cooking diff's with just different brands of tires that ar ethe same size.... I personally wouldn't do it, even though it would likely look very nice.

IIRC staggered sizes is def. a big NO NO for an AWD drive car...

Ive heard of quite a few imprezas with staggered wheels but they usually run wider in the front narrowor in the rear with the same size and type of tire on both. They run narrowor on the rear so they break away before the front and are more predictable.

staggered wheels are fine on AWD cars depending on the car, look at porsche turbos... i think it largely depends on the car and the diff setup. The only that really matters is the rolling size, but like i said, i've heard of weirdness even with different tire brands that were supposedly the same size on a subaru, and i wouldn't do it... I'd bet you could more easily get away with it on an STI where the diff is adjustable to a more rear bias.

Duh! You guys are all right, I was a bit tired when I wrote the above and read it to mean "different wheel sizes" like 18 in the rear 16 in the front....

from what I know...they don't even make a staggered offset for the 5x100. If they did, then it would be a european wheel, or offset. That's just a funny combo that I never have heard of.

I definitely wouldn't different diameter wheels, but again the only thing that matters is the rolling diameter.... the bottom line is just don't do it, same wheel, same tire, same wear on all 4 corners... if you have a full size spare rotate frequently

There is at least one board member who did/does this...IIRC he did a 9.5x17 in front and an 8.5x17 in back and ran 255/40's.
