Default SSR Type C 17 X 8.5 with Hoosiers

These are 17 x 8.5 (thanks Gruppe-S) -- took 10 weeks but they finally arrived.

Tires & rim weigh 35.3 lbs (rim is 14.2 lbs). Even though these are wider rims they are still 8.1 lbs lighter than stock tire/rims (43.4 lbs)

See pic below (Pat, thanks again for posting my pic).

Pic isn't working, and what offset do you have? I plan on doing a 17x8.5 myself. Are you rubbing anywhere in the wheel well.

225/45 Hoosier R3S04 -- but width is closer to a 245 street tire.

No rub issues at all and plenty of clearance with the calipers. Hmmm...pic works for me?

Acceleration improvement is VERY noticeable -- it is like I lost 300 lbs somewhere

Now I just wish I went with even stiffer springs as the Tanabe GF210 are not up to the task with the traction the Hoosiers provide.

You should post a picture on this forum, you have to be a member of that other forum to see the picture.

Rob, the pic from cc. com ain't workin', and I'm even a member over there. If you want to email it to me I can host it on my so-called website, or you can just attach it to a post from your hard drive.

I have to remove the feature to upload attachments again.

The server has been dragging lately and I can't pinpoint it to any other reason right now. So they are disabled for at least a week to see how the server handles it.

This will all be over soon, once we move to the new version of the forum software the uploading of attachments should not affect the server like they are now. So we should get the ability back then. I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks Pat, appreciate it very much.

Camber is maxed out for stock setup at -1.7 -- in search of good caster/camber plates -- any suggestions for STi?

Try here for caster/camber plates. It says that 04' STI fitment is uncomfirmed but in all my reading here on NASIOC I've seen no reason why they shouldn't fit.

I think Hoosier recommends in the neighborhood of 3 degrees to keep the wear even, I forget exactly. Tire Rack says over 2.5

PAT ... oh, soo sweet ... you aren't going to run those Hoosiers on the street are you!?

VERY Stylish, Classy! Different ...

I'm getting my Kuhmo Victoracers installed on my SSR's on Monday ... had to buy inexpensive Rota Attacks for my street T1's for the time being ...

You can get Work Emotion for about $1k... that's what I did for street wheels. I refuse to buy knock offs of other designs.

V8, serisouly... I run about 3.2 degrees up front. You'll love the grip. The car doesn't push much at all. You turn in and it just hangs on.

Here's a good pic of the tires working at Mid Ohio:

feel the G's

Car could use more camber in the rear as you can see, but it's so neutral and nice to drive with the current setup I may just lower the ride height a little in the rear and see how that feels.

enjoy!

Dump the passenger and it'll probably be setup just right

I used to run -4.0 to -4.5 on my old 99 Cobra (race car) and that worked OK (hey it's a 1979 Fairmont...errr, Mustang).

I'll see how the car works at Infineon in about a week from now -- hopefully no rain as that will mean I can't break in the Hoosiers.

If I go with coilovers that is gonna set me back $3000 for the ones I want (might even consider the WRC ones at $8000). But for now, $400 caster/camber plates should hold me over til I'm ready for a good set of coilovers.
