Cool

If you are going to Vegas, make sure you take a trip to the Valley Of Fire. Go early early in the morning, just before sunrise. And take your AWD Subaru.

Think of it as a 30 mile long autocross, cept it's a public road, so even in the early early morning when it is totally deserted, you will of course obey the posted speed limit

(The Valley Of fire is about 10-15 miles North of Vegas, there is an Indian shop that sells cigs and "illegal" fireworks at the entrance. They also have a platform outside the shop for you to set off your fireworks.)

Thumbs up

I second the valley of fire trip! When I went we took the back way in and came out by the reservation. The whole back way is a SERIOUSLY entertaining drive! I just wish I remembered the road we took. Super twistie and hilly. Loved it!!

I think you are thinking of "The Silver State Classic" which is held twice yearly in the northern part of Nevada.

The VOF is a back-door route between Vegas and Lake Meade, during the day expect to get caught behind a boat-towing RV or a timid driver in a rented Taurus.

Drive through it SLOWLY first, to see all the places where your live-axle Mustang might stuff it. Then smile as you remember you are in an AWD car.

Afterwards your brakes will be hot enough to roast marshmallows (sold at the reservation shop at the entrance to the valley)
