Question Widest Tire on a stock wheel STi?

The search no worky work very well. I typed in widest AND sti and search this forum for all post from a year ago til now. Got nothing, though I'm sure it's been discussed a few times.

What is the widest tire that you can fit on an STi with stock wheels? Can we get away with 235s or wider?

I'd like to know too. I di some searches and came up with nothing. I have 8" rims on order and want to know if I should saty with 225's on them (sti) or go wider (heavier?)

I have 235-45x17 Pirreli P-Zero Nero mounted on my stock Sti wheels. The fit is marginal. They would be much happier on a 8-8.5" wheel.

No rubbing at full lock or hard cornering (auto-x style)?
Thats' .394" wider and .177" inch closer (vertically) to the fender.

I am running a 235 45-17 on 7.5 inch wheels. I think the fit is fine and I have no rubbing issues. Granted, the wider the rim you put a tire on, the better off you will be, but a 235 45-17 is fine on a stock STI wheel.

You could get away with a 245 40-17, but then you are outside of the recommended wheel size for the tire.

No rubbing at all. I am also running the STi Pink springs as well. Even with the drop I have had zero rubbing. That is with two people in the car. Have not tried it with a full load.

okay, what about with an 18X8 rim? How wide for best performance on a 18" wheel?

Typically wider is better for dry traction.
