I went in to the DMV with a list of choices, they'll punch them in to the computer right there to tell whether it's taken already...
I wanted RLLYCR- and my first choice "GOALIE" was already taken.
I ended up with my clever "GL10DR" since my other choices were taken.

So make sure you've got a few to fall back on!

For those wondering where/how do find out if your idea has been taken:

1) Your local DMV Office (California for sure, likely most states...) have a very large series of books. Every plate taken is listed... DO NOTE the following though... Just because it's in the book doesn't mean it is currently registered... If it isn't the DMV will mail that person and they have 30 days to pay or turn in the plate, or pay the fines... (IOW It's your plate 75% of the time...)

2) (Once again Ca for sure, other states good odds this will work...) Go to the State fair (many county fairs have them as well) and the DMV usually has a booth set-up advertising all the custom plate styles available... Make note, no matter what plate they all use the same database... Hence a standard personal plate can't match any special (i.e.: California's Keep Tahoe Blue plate) personal plate...

Thats it for respones... Save my plate (Still somewhere between the DMV/Folsom Prison (Point of Creation...) and me...

In California we have Kids plates, they benefit childrens homes and foster homes... They offer 6 Digits, PLUS one of about 6 special signs... A hand-print, Star, Heart etc... My plate follows, replace with a normal 5 point star...

Why do you see so many in VA? Cause they're dirt cheap. $10 a year for personalized plates. And we deserve it... for the raping we take from Personal Property Tax on cars, and town stickers.

custom plates aren't extra if they have a number at the end.

That one makes me think that a good Forester plate would be SUBSUV. Has almost a double meaning, since it's smaller than an SUV too...

Prior to getting my RS, I drove a green Jeep Cherokee, and my wife and I always talked about getting a matching black one for her with the plates "BAH BAH"... Think about it

I'm still mulling over getting "MOOMAN"...

(I go by Mooman on most other sites and even own the mooman.com domain)

Personalized plates aren't my thing but I was considering DIE SUV.

BTW I went to school in VA, why does everyone and their mother have a personalized plate in that state? Do they give them away?

But what I want to get when I register my car in Colorado is:

ICEBANE

By then I'll have my turbo on and some nice spikey snow tires to gnaw my way up Berthoud pass in a blizzard... "Excellent...."

Yeah, yeah, yeah...
We know you're a showoff.... .
I, although it has nothing to do with the performance of my Suby, but I have GODSGFT.
Besides it being a long story...I always need to recognize (and so should you) that GOD provides the things we have....
I'll keep it humble....even when I turbo it!!!

When the turbo gets here I was thinking about getting
TEX WRX (texas wrx)
T WRX (the T could be for Travis or Texas)
T REX (same as above but with a more obvious dinosaur reference)
I'm still undecided.
