Question If you died would you like Nasioc to shut down in your memory?

Just a question. If you passed on, in an accident or health problem would you find it an honor that Nasioc shut down for 5 minutes in your memory?

For me. Not partucularly. I would be dead at the time, and wouldn't care.
And, albeit (sp), this is a fun place... it is really just a forum on a web site. Compared to a person's life... this is just a grain of sand.

I'd want it shut down, just because I'm seeing how much it would annoy some people.

and that would make me happy

No... I think I'd want an OT day. Like MS Thurs, a Photoshop Rick day or something.

Edited out a joke.

I wouldn't have replied to this thread, had I read the preponderence of ignorance in the other thread first.

I doubt the majority of members would recognize the significance of a 5-minute moratorium. In addition, most members probably would not even notice there had been a 5-minute suspension of services. If they did, they would probably blame a server outage or some other technical failure.

A sticky is more appropriate and gets the message out to more people over a longer period of time.

Most members probably wouldnt realize it because most members dont sit on here as much as some of us. But Im also pretty sure that it wouldnt just say,.. "shut down for 5 minutes." It would say in the memory of so and so and a picture. So people would realize why the site is down.

In other words a sticky, which makes shutting down the site superfluous, because without the sticky, the suspension would go unnoticed.

Why don't we have a fallen members section listing... I think it would be a bigger honor to be a part of the site forever, than to have a site go down for 5 mins in which many would never know...

Although I do think the 5 minute shutdown is a great thought, it would be nice to see something more permanent in memory of fallen members.

I almost became a fallen member before I even became one in february 02 when i rolled my WRX after 11 months of ownership.

as with most post death rituals these things are usually more for the people that are still alive rather than those who just died. It's more of a time to come together as a group to comfort those who just lost a loved one.

does some 16 year old that died in a streetracing accident count as a fallen member or an idiot?

Not really. Nobody here much cares about me when I'm around (and that's fine), so why should I force people to care about me when I'm gone? Closing OT won't bring me back.

Besides, when I die there will be more than enough sadness within my family; spreading it around won't help anybody.

I think its a good idea... but it would be full of more drama then it would be worth trying to get it done.

I don't care really. I'm dead. I can't use it. Poeple are going to know I'm dead through the postings. Bring awareness through posting, not the absence thereof.
