Default OBD1/1996 RA drive train?

ok, still learning about my type-ra drive train.

quick question for JDM folks.

from what i know (given, it isn't much) the early 1996 type-ra drivetrain in my car *should* be obd1.

which leads me to ask, is it possible that a US code scanner will be able to pull the MIL indicator codes from the JDM ecu?

if i were to make an assumption here, then it would be to assume that it ISN'T possible.

has anyone tried it? i want to see if it is possible before dropping cash on a useless tool.

thanks everyone.

anything jdm < 2000 is odb1. If you put the ecu in diagnostics mode, it will flash the codes on the cel indicator. Pretty simple stuff.

ok, good, this is what i am looking for.

what do you need to do to get it to flash codes?

flip the ignition on/off a few times or something? that is what i have done on my jeep, never done it on a scooby.

thanks in advance.

ok, found what i needed to pull codes.

koeo codes are:

24 air control valve

33 vehicle speed sensor

we knew the speed sensor, and are taking steps to rectify.

speed sensor is in dash pod, requires a lead to ecu. not currently there. getting pinout to take care of this.

going to test air control valve this weekend, to see if it is out of range. should know tomorrow what is up with that.

when you say air control valve, you're referring to idle air control right?
