Default n00b needs help and yes I did search

I have an RS that I just installed a header on and I was told to reset my ECU. How exactly is this done, do you just disconnect the battery for 5 minutes or do you have to disconnect it over night, then start it and let it idle til the radiator fans come on, someone please clear this up for me.

Pump the brake a few times, whats the point of that, just to get all the electricity out of the lines by using the tail lights?

instead of answer with the smartalek reply, why not let him know that he is correct - the point of pumping the brakes is to fully drain any residual charge from the system.

You should never do ANYTHING unless you know why you're doing it.

And why pump when you can casually stomp once and hold (until the odo goes blank)!
