Default Backlighting for Gauges and Climate Control

Hello, any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently purchased a 99 RS Turbo, and the lighting behind the gauge cluster and climate control doesn't work. I pulled both of these pieces out, the bulbs are fine and all the wire seems to be fine visually speaking. I also checked all the fuses and they are fine also. Everything else works perfect just the backlighting on these two pieces???????? Everthing on the cluster works also, even the backlighting for the clock, door ajar, brake light, and all of those warning lights????????? The car does have a Link Plus in it, but I don't think that this could affect it, and yes, I have checked the dimmer switch

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks in advance

You should use some sort of voltmeter. I don't think looking at bulbs and fuses and saying that they are ok is reliable.

..but looking at fuses and saying "They're blown" is a pretty reliable way to know that's youre problem. ::]

LOL You know what I mean... I've seen bulbs and fuses that look good even though they are not. But yeah, if you definitely see a gap in the fuse, I'd say that is pretty obvious.

I have already done the obvious!!!

Just need to know if this has happened to anyone else and what a possible solution might be.

i blew the lights in my gauge cluster on my old car. i had shorted out on of the traces on the backside of the circuit board. my not relate to your situation but that shows you it could be anything in the car.

i would buy the subaru electrical manual and start there (since you have tried the obvious). if you bought it from a dealer i would bring it back (although i doubt you did buy it from a dealer).

Well guys, after weeks of pulling my hair out I finally fixed my illumination problem.

If this ever happens to someone else, there is a illumination control module, next to the glove box on the right side mounted to a piece of metal. It is a 6 wire box and was the culprit of my problems.

So there you have it
