Default usdm wrx swap maintenance questions

Recently a number of people have finished their conversions and the issue of spark plug replacement and fan/engine clearance has come up. I was wondering if anyone has figured out what causes this when swapping newer motors into older cars. Is this any issue for JDM swap? Would using a Legacy Turbo Crossmember remedy this issue?

We just completed a JDM version 2 swap into a 2001 RS and had no clearance problems with fans or spark plug access.
What car/drivetrain combo are you using?

No, the Legacy crossmember doesn't resolve the problem. I'm running that very crossmember in my swap.

Honestly, I haven't looked at the plugs very closely to determine just how hard they will be to replace. I know there are serious clearance issues with the fans and a fat PWR radiator though .

i think perhaps the gd motors are slightly larger and the gc8s have smaller engine compartments.
