Cool Stromung get Louder????

just installed my new stromung dual tip. very easy install hardest part was getting my big ass under the car. It is so nice to have air tools! Well, anyway i thought i read a ways back that a stromung has a break in period and it will only get louder. is that true??

Hmmm 10K miles and not much louder but noticing the off-throttle burble more.
I think the break in is more for the smell as mine was that way for teh first couple hundered miles which was done when I drove back home from Sacramento when I installed it.

thats good, right now its just loud enough to scare the neighbors and make the little kids cry, just right in my book. But seriously i like the sound ALOT i find myself reving the motor w/ the clutch in just to hear it better. But i guess that will pass. I didn't reset the ECU, should i?

thanks

Don;t really worry about a reset. Also do you have the center pipe? I have heard that it's non-resonated and makes it louder. Heck I did that too when I first installed it made me want to go and just idle it (would rev it but the auto just can't completely give the great burble like a stick down shift but it can come close).

Thumbs up

No need for a re-set, Shaun...
Nor has my dual Stromung gotten any louder after 5,000 miles, but it is noticable louder after extended highway cruising at high RPM.
Must be some deal with internal heat temperatures...

Yeah My Nakayama Muffler gets alot louder after you drive for more than 2 hrs straight. Must be something about temperatures of the exhaust gasses or something.

The center pipe made my exhaust quieter. I am noticing a lot of other noises now though, such as clanks when shifting gears, funny engine winding sounds. I'm not sure if this is normal though. Hope someone knows.

I guess I should elaborate, I don't mean a bad clank or a loud clank. It's more like a "very conected mechanical feel" for the lever going into gear. If you look at the stock shifter it has a rubber core betwen the shift knob rod and the hollow body shift lever. This makes the shifts feel like rubber. When I say "clank" in regards to the Kartboy/Cusco setup, I mean you feel everything in that shift. It is a solid "clank" into gear. I love it. And for those who don't, you should just go get an automatic.

Keep it real

why did the exhaust get quiteter? i would figure it would get louder because of bigger piping and the lack of the silencer. that is weird

Well, I really don't know why it's quieter either. My guess is that exhaust velocity is slower (this is fluid dynamics crap), therefore it stays in the muffler longer.

But I still have this whine that I have no idea where it's coming from. But it's not a leak either. If someone else has this setup let me know!

Question

Dual stromug vs single tip stromug:
Which is better? Which is louder?
