....while we sit here drooling about it. For those of you who don't know about the P1(and shame on you), CAR magazine rated the P1 as the most superior handling Impreza in the world.....save one, the Impreza World Rally
Car(comfort? not in this beast). They're at the scoobynet forum right now impatiently complaining about when they'll be getting their P1. At least, they have the luxury to complain. Face it. We're cursed. We'll never get the P1 unless by divine chance they(ProDrive) decide to open up shop here. Hmm....I think 'll include this in my nightly prayers tonight. "Dear Lord, would you please whisper in the ears of ProDrive that they should market their cars in the US? We'll gladly trade them....uh.....Alabama, for just one Prodrive Outfitting Impreza Factory(turbo included)."

it's not their fault that they are so lucky!! and we'd be complaining just as loud if the tables were turned... can you imagine having to WAIT around for your P1???
it is a very nice car!!! if i was in the UK, I'd be driving that or an EVO V - the P1 was verrry nice tho... i only saw 1 while i was visiting in the UK, but MAN!!! WHAT A CAR!!!! there's a pic in here somewhere.... http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~iwatkins/...al/index3.html |

hehe...I reposted this. The original is still in the Technical Forum. Subie Gal, I know, I bet I'd wear out the carpet pacing back and forth waiting for my P1. Just venting about our situation. I could hear the V8 guys laughing now - "HAHAHA! You can't compare what you don't have!" Februaru is such a long way away....and I'm still not sure I'll like the new body style. |

Subie Gal: hehe getting a bit excited about the V8 killers aren't we? I'd like to see a Minaam Stage II, all done up Impreza against a stock Buick Grand National 3.8 turbo. Fastest production car Buick has ever made, even faster that the corvette of the same year
Think about that for a second... oh yeah its a V6... ![]() |

Guess what guys...
I have just been down to my dealer and there was a P1 there... They arent anything special.. the front spoiler is nice though... not sure about the lights... But.. it was going rusty underneath already!! It was brand new.... with rust on the brakes..exhaust.... For saying they have been looked at by Prodrive, they must have been in the compound for a while.. ![]() I have some pics for you... just need to scan them... It has the usual Red suspension legs.. standard 4 pot brakes... single tail pipe exhaust.. STI engine... nice blue seats... But the guy is paying for Prodrive to leather them... 2K pounds worth.. ouch!! Anyways... I'll have a go at a V8... and anything else... ![]() J. |

My dealer here in the UK took delivery of eight P1's the other day. They were all spoken for and collected by their extatic owners within a couple of days.
I have had the pleasure of driving one and I score it 11 out of 10 for performance and handling. However, I'll stick with my Prodrive modified UK turbo because I prefer and need a four door. Ken Leeds, UK |

Impreza RS - 165hp and 95Wheel HP.
Impreza STi(Japan) - 280hp. Impreza Turbo (UK) - 220hp(a nice high platfor to start with). Yes I'm spoiled. I want what they have. |

Why don't you just import them from Japan and make them conform to emissions? Am I being naive here? We import them from Japan, why can't you?
It's would be good to see you lot inherit something from us, instead of the other way round. You know, like drive by shootings etc...... ![]() Geezer |

The problem with importing is that unfortunately, in the US, it's not that easy. The P1 (or UK turbo, or whatever) could meet California's latest Ultra Super Duper Extra Low Emissions Vehicle standards but still not be allowed in unless a few have been crash tested and certified. Plus, I'm pretty sure they need to have an OBDII-compliant ECU. You lot are lucky that the government doesn't care much about your safety, just that you aren't offending the tree huggers.

But surely if the Impreza RS has been crash tested, the Turbo, P1 etc. are all the same body chassis etc. so what's the difference?

Richard Squire's dilemma : he owns a 22B but can't bring it here.
EPA needs to be paid 150% of the car's(22B) value....plus a dozen other red tape he has to hurdle. Sounds like extortion to me. Heck...I bet the mafia would charge less than that. |
