OMGHi2U Does anyone else in Houston...

Does anyone else in Houston want eight foot spikes across the front of the light rail so it actually kills the dumbass who pulls out in front of the thing instead of just knock them around? I figure if you kill off the .001% of the population that would pull in front of a train it would make all of Houston a safer place to drive.

Not just the train issue... I'd say 90+% of houston drivers aren't fit to drive... they need to retest people every once in a while...

They showed video from the trains perspective of number 10 on the news this morning, it's not like the train was in their blindspot or something, it's a big freakin train!!

Philistine, might as well do it now before they install the eight foot spikes.

We are actually taking bets on how many "near misses" take place this weekend... I guessed 15. Anyone care to start a pool?

I bought my car in New Orleans. Cars there seem to come standard with turn signals which seem optional on vehicles sold inside Houston.

some of the spots I drive through on the way to work I could see it being real easy to run into a train by accident.

who the hell can actually use the freakin trains anyway?

there is no parking at the 'train stations' near me...

or downtown when the light at Main changes for no reason (other than there is a train coming) out of sync with the other lights and you half run it....

I'm just waiting for Billy Bob in his F350 V-12 diesel super-stroke engine and custom-made deer-slayer to T-bone the train. That'll really put a damper on things.

How many commuters ARE there that take the train from the stadium area to downtown? If they really wanted to do something about traffic, they'd build a rail system along I-10.

And I guess 12 hits with the train this weekend...

the train has been nothing but a pain for me... not that I see them that often but have had to wait at lights, had to deal with massive construction, and for what? it's not really laid out for the benefit of commuters, just superbowl partiers... it's screaming "look at me, houston is so kewl because of it's train dealies!"

it is kinda funny to think of the tourists on board when the dern thing hits a car or comes close... I bet they look like...

Yeah, my car bought in New York came with the standard turn signals as well... It was one of the first things I noticed when driving into Houston...

I still havent seen one of these "trains" or the construction for them, or tracks. So sure install some spikes, hell they could shoot missles for all I care.

#10 made me have to park a block a way and walk to that Subway (where I eat almost every day I work), so that was annoying. Good to know these idiots are getting what's coming to them by turning left and not looking. I work at the Science Museum so I've been in contact with the trains since they started testing, and I don't think they could take any more precautions. I'd be interested to see statistics on how Houston compares so far to other cities when they had their rails installed.

And don't even get me started on people not using their turn signals... makes me want to get a beater and ride the right lanes, smashing into everyone who turns into a driveway/parking lot without signalling.

"He just slowed down in the middle of the road officer, I didn't know what was happening!"
"Um, what are all those car icons stenciled onto you fender like on fighter jets?"
"Oh, nothing."

I say when the light turns on, thats supposed to keep people from turning in front, a 10' X 10' pit should open up under the rails. When the car turns it falls into the pit instead of getting hit by the train.

Oh yeah, and in the pit there're sharks with frickin' lasers attached to their frickin' heads.
