Advice: AccessPort or ECUTEK?
So I need some advice on what to do here's my mods and my situation
APS turboback w/ hiflow cat
Vishnu Underdrive Pulley and catless Uppipe
UTEC (dynotuned at pruven ... made like 239 whp)
and that's about all I need right now...
I've already been down the turbo route (tried it very briefly before changing my mind) and I (not related yet still important) blew the tranny out of my old WRX....
don't want to do that again.....
I don't feel like having to change stuff and then go get it retuned and etc etc....
Here's what I don't like about the UTEC
If something goes wrong I will not know how to fix it, don't know/want to learn/don't care to learn how to add/remove fuel pull timing etc.... not for me....
I like the idea of the remote switch yet, I don't have a powerful enough setup to take advantage of it.. and if I did I'd need to get it retuned (i.e tune it for different boosts and on different map settings...)
I love the knock sensor (CEL) and like that feature but it can go if need be......
I've heard and talked to people about BOTH the AccessPort and the ECUTEK
I like the AccessPort cause of it's portability and tuneability...
I like the ECUTEK cause of it's reliablilty and seemingly easy to use/setup idea....
The downside of the ECUTEK is I have to send my ECU out to do a reflash (which I could get for free, yet still the hassle of shipping) but the upside is I get a complete customized solution.
The downside of the Accessport is it isn't out yet and the fact that I don't know if it's gonna have all the features/customizable options to suit my car....
So what do you guys think?

comparing apples to apples.
with accessport you can switch between 10 maps of your choice(ie: various octane maps, valet mode, blah...blah...blah), and of course re-flash your own ecu.
or, like you said, get a more "custom" flash from kingpin. i doubt there would be anymore then a 10 whp difference though.
my thoughts.....if you plan on moding your car more over a long period of time, id go with cobb; they will be coming out with many more maps for the access, and i like the fact that i can switch maps(stock map is good for when the parents are driving).
or if you cant stand the thought that there are a few untapped ponnies under the hood, kingpin is the way. i havent heard of any reliability issues with either company.

Id go the Cobb route also. The UTEC dosent seem to suit you if you dont want/need/care to learn to fiddle with it on your own.
The Accessport, plug it in, and go.
Plus if you still have that craving for a larger turbo you can get their V34 map which will probaly quench your thirst for speed.
PS: Sorry I never got back to you on the car, work/family has eaten up a bunch of my time lately

Another Cobb Vote here. I too don't want to fiddle with all the more advanced settings of a UTEC that's why a Cobb reflash is the best for me. But since you're comparing the ecutek and the accessport, I'd recommend the Cobb Accessport. I plan to also get the accessport which should be out next month which gives even more customization if you wish without the "fiddling."
