Default VDC light coming on question

Sorry to cross post this with the Legacy section:

Anyone with a VDC have this happen?

After the car has sat, it's pretty cold out say around 10F or so, you start the car and the "VDC Off" light comes on on the dash. This has happened twice now to my wife. She swears she hasn't touched the off button. Once it's on pressing the button will not turn it off. Only (sometimes) turning off then re-starting the car. Tonight she called me from the airport saying it happened again. She tried 3 times to turn off and restart the car to get the light off. It's icy and stuff here now and she wants to have it working properly. It's so cold here right now the car almost didn't start the third time . Anyway just wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. I'm gonna call the dealer in the AM to see what's up.

Well to answer my own question, it was a case of RIFTM. The Owners Manual says it will do that when it gets cold, the light will go out after the car warms up and or reaches 8 MPH. The system is fully operational but the light comes on. Go figure...

Sounds like the idea is to warn you in cold conditions that it may be icy. Then turns off so as not be be annoying about it.
