Default Retaining ABS

During the process of my engine and tranny swap i have converted my AT 98 RS into a USDM WRX powered RS with a USDM WRX 5MT tranny. I want to know if there is any was to wire the ABS to work with this setup. In the schematics there is a single wire runnning from the TCU in the RS to the ABS control unit. I assume the secret lies in this wire, has anyone had any experience with it? Any tips would be appreciated!

I would imagine the abs system isn't working at the moment?

Quote:
In Mechanism and Function Section:
When the ABS is active, the ABSCM provides the automatic transmission control module with control signals which are used by the module for cooperative control of the vehicle with the ABSCM.
In reading that, it looks like that wire is merely an output, not an input of any sort.

Have you tried throwing your car into diagnosis mode and pulling the abs trouble code? You can also read abs codes using the SSM.

Well...the car is not running at the moment. However I was under the impression that the ABS would not work. Whey I turn the ignition on the ABS light remains illuminated. I will be able to test them in a week or so. I guess I should get to that point first, then I'll post back on my fingings. Thanks for the info though!

Mine doesn't work either. I was told by Lachute that I need an MT ABS module. It's really not that bad without the ABS, you just have to get used to it. I might replace it eventually, but as of now I don't really care. Anyone know how hard it would be to hook up a new ABS module and bleed, etc.

Oh, and I went from AT to STi engine and tranny.

I would say if it's not going to work to scrap the ABS stuff all together and use the non-ABS booster...much firmer feel...I like it A LOT MORE!!!...wish I still had mine

Sounds like a plan, I'd love a firmer pedal feel!

I'm about to swap a 1998 2.5RS 5MT into my 1999 Legacy OB. Am I going to loose my ABS? This would be really bad as it's the middle of winter and the roads are covered in snow. What parts do I need to enable ABS again?

um whtlegacy...the tranny doesn't have much to do with the ABS...I don't think it has anything at all to do with the ABS itself...

I'm pretty sure I heard that ABS links into the automatic TCU. I could definately be wrong though.

It may just to disengage gears but that happens when you brake anyhow....that will go away anyway when you install the manual though...no need for it anymore
