Default What excites you about the new Legacy?

Right. The car's a reality, though there are things we don't know, such as price, options list, etc. We do, however, know enough to get excited about it. Well, some of us, anyhow. So I thought that, in light of what the stick about the new Legacy has become, that I would create a thread about what we dig about the new Legacy. Yes, it's positive, and I make no apologies for that. There's plenty of negative already. The mods can make their own call about this thread, and it may well be moved or locked.

But while it lives, let's have fun!

I'm thrilled about the power, big brakes, quantum leap interior and sleek looks, to name a few things. I also like the in-dash 6-disc changer, and the heated outside mirrors. But I don't want to take everything, so somebody else can chime in.

Oh yeah, I love the fact that we get the big motor, rather than the 2.0 engine.

Kevin

The steering wheel, the bright guages like those Acura's, and the one and only dual moonroofs.

Wait! That's an oxymoron.

Good brakes, good suspension (likely perfect with the STi springs), nice interior, nice easy to clean 17" wheels, great styling, and to be totally sleeper! I'll have to see how much I like it on the test drive.

Everything in-between the bumpers
It's also very nice for Subaru to stop giving up those cheap 16 inch wheels. Although I don't doubt I'll have to replace the 17s with something gold that isn't wrapped with RE92. But at least it'll fetch more money when I get rid of them.

But it's pretty sad that my future daily-driver could very well be faster than my 'race' car (wrx) though.

Doesn't anyone have any speculation as to whether the stock 16 inch impreza wheels will fit on a new legacy (specifically over the brakes?)

I have a second set of wheels for my WRX and I MAY condsider trading it in for a Legacy GT, it would be great if I could keep the 16's for snow tires.

I am pretty pumped about the windshield wiper heaters.. that's gonna be pimp. I don't really know how I feel about the mirror signals but at least it might lower my insurance

I can't wait to drive one. I wonder how the quality of the leather will be?

Bull, the brake size is nearly the same as that of the Brembos up front. They're a good inch bigger than the stock WRX brakes.

So NO 16's unless they're a rally wheel, and the possibility of fitting is up in the air with those.

Please try to keep on topic, Bull and amdmaxx. It's appreciated. It doesn't have 300hp, and we don't know if 16s for snows will clear.

Hey yeah, we get the only dual sunroof on the wagon as far as I know, which IS really cool. And I was wishing my WRX had the wiper blade heaters that the new Legacy will have. Highway speed when it's 3 degrees out means chilly blades.

Nobody's mentioned the heated seats, which I will luuuuv (single-digit Chicago days have converted me) and heated outside mirrors (ditto).

I wish I was excited about a nice new graphite colored legacy.

Crossing fingers that the performance version will offer a color that will motivate me to buy another subaru.

Crossing fingers paint quality will improve as well.

Finally a Japanese performance station wagon!!! And they made it look rather pretty and priced it reasonably.

Also nice of Subaru to update interior, too.

It's about time a car like this showed up, considering I do not want a German car.

Why does everybody like the Legacy? Easy... it's a Japanese Audi- looks good, awd, and luxurious. You get everything with the Legacy except for the badge snobbery. Seriously, why get an A4? It's overpriced and underpowered compared to a Legacy.

BIG UPS!!! to gtguy for starting this thread. I’ve been lurking on this board for a while just trying to get some info on the new Legacy. Most of the posts seem to put down FHI, SOA, and the new Legacy instead of talking about the good side of things. I understand that some were hoping for more, but come on, we’re getting something Good. The new Legacy is going to be sweet and I’m glad gtguy is trying to get/give some love for it.

As for what I like about the new Legacy…EVERYTHING. I dive a ’91 Legacy Wagon. To make it perfect it would be a little bigger, with more power and better handling – OH WAIT! that’s the new Legacy!

I especially like that it's got the 2.5L and should be a modder's dream! If Subaru can detune the STi engine on paper or in reality by 50 hp, it shouldn't be very hard to get it back up to 300+ hp.

I also like that it's fairly light and will be fast. 5 speed automatic with paddle shifters sounds pretty interesting too. I want one!

The prospect of there being a stronger six-speed-based STI version.
