2000 OBS WRX Swap

Default 02' WRX engine stronger than newer models?

Just read Sport Compact Car mag 02/04'

The section called "Swap an EJ20 into an old Subaru" points out that a WRX engine can be swapped into any old Subaru newer than 1995.

SCC wrote "You might want to shy away from engines newer than 2002 as we've noticed they tend to make a little less power(
about 10HP) than earlier engines."

Is this true?

its probably cause the 02 's have a lighter flywheel and a more aggresive clutch ,but sometimes you get clutch shudder in the morning.03 and up have a heavier flywheel and a softer clutch with a safety valve so you can not drop the clutch and destroy your gear box.as far as the engines them self thay should be all the same.
