Default Utec: Stg 1 Flashing CEL

I just put in my Utec and have been trying to dial in my boost. I spoke to Turboxs today and they said that usually you will put between 2-4 full turns on the ABC before you find the .1-1 of boost I should be looking for. I slowly dialed it in. On the freeway tonight in 4th gear, with the car floored, I'm getting a flashing CEL. I got off the throttle right away and the light went out but I floored it again and the same thing happened. Someone please help my novice a$$ with this. The only thing that I can possibly find that I have done wrong is that I have a 93 octane map and I can only find 91 ocatane in Los Angeles. Thanks in advance!

I have these mods to the engine:

TSX shorty intake
UTEC
Light Weight Crank Pulley
Magnaflow Muffler

Do I need to adjust the map? Or should I consider taking this to a tuner to have it PROFESSIONALLY tuned. If so who?

I did a search and found this to remedy the problem:

"The gain setting in the parameters section, not on the specific map. Just one gain, probably set at/near 50. raise it 5 and see how that does. It will affect spool, not just spikes, so you have to trade off what kind of spike your willing to have on the guage versus how quick you want it to build boost.

since the map column of the UTEC logger is smoothed a bit, the spikes won't always show up there, so make sure to pay attention to your gauge."

IIRC the base stage 1 map is for a stock car, and since you have mods my guess is that it needs tuning. And I would definitely recommend having a professional tune it.
Also when using the UTEC I believe a flashing CEL means detonation. Be careful!

You are getting knock. It could be due to multiple things. Too much timing for that 91 octane fuel I am guessing. That intake may also be making you run leaner than that stage 1 expects.

I suggest you read the quick tune guide on the wrxhackers web site.

http://www.wrxhackers.com/modules.ph...ick_Tune_Guide

It gives you the basics on tuning your UTEC. Read that and then ask questions.

I suggest you log (UTEC log 1) your runs and then you will be able to figure out exactly where the knock is.

You will also have to work out if you are running open or closed loop boost. Base TurboXS maps are open loop so the boost gain does not have any effect.

Going to WOT in 4th puts alot of load of the engine. Downshift and then go to WOT.

Hope that helps

Oh - Yes - A professional tune will make your car run very well.

Use the above suggestions to make a safe daily driver for yourself.

Default turboxs

I spoke to Turboxs this morning and they stated that I should go to the new 2nd stage map. As stated above the 91 octane and the timing are in coflict. can someone please suggest a shop that can tune the car for me with the utec? Does Suby Specialist tune UTEC's? thanks
