Default New to engine management. have a few ?'s

Hey everyone,

I am new to engine tuning and have the opportunity to buy a used TurboXS Unichip mapped to stage 2. I know that if you want to allow yourself more options in the long run you should get a reflash. Well i use the car as a daily commuter and just want more power. Is the unichip going to be a good set up for me? I do not plan on upgrading anything like the turbo or intercooler. Right now I only have a Borla catback and i want to finish the whole turboback system.

Where should I go from here? Which downpipe, midpipe, and what kind of hp gains should I expect? Do I need an upipe for this mapping.

Sorry for all the questions and thanks for helping out a newb.

Jason

Finish your exhaust, get a cat-less up-pipe, get a COBB AccessECU and be done with it if you're on a budget (which I assume you are if you're considering buying a Unichip)

how much is a cobb accessECU. I am not really on a budget but im not into spending money that I don't have to. What hp would the setup be comared to the TXS setup. I have read someplaces that a full turbo back plus the Unichip is 60 hp over stock.(Flywheel i assume)

You should be in the 220-230WHP area with a turboback, up-pipe, and tune (EcuTek reflash, COBB AccessECU, UTEC, whatever).

There's quite a bit of info here and in their forums. An AccessECU is $395.

If you intend to take your setup past 220WHP, you can upgrade to an AccessPort for about $100 more whenever you are ready. This lets you flash new COBB Tuning maps into your ECU. The downside is that they have to have a map for your setup, and they're slow as HELL to do almost anything. They are on their own time schedule, not yours. Don't say nobody warned you...

Read up.
