Post Anyone else have trouble getting races lately?

For some reason, every time I've been out driving lately and in the mood to eat a FWD car or two, I pull up to a light and a MINIVAN pulls up next to me! I think the one time in the last few weeks when I thought I was going to catch a light with an Si coming up on me, he turned!

Damn, it is like destiny telling me to stick to autocrossing or something!

I know what you mean 8complex. I have never been a serious street racing kinda guy. Maybe play a little from a light or hit the curves a bit hard...but nothing outrageous ya know?

But I was hoping to have a little fun with the RS...and I have yet to find anyone to play even a little with!

Whoa, scary thought here...but does that mean everyone is growing up and becoming...gasp...responsible? Yikes!

PS: Greater responsibilty on the roads is a GOOD thing 'cause maybe then insurance rates will drop! Not to mention...more lives will be saved....

PSS: Funny fact, but did you know that more lives have been lost by trafic accidents AFTER seatbelts became manditory? From what I read it turns out seatbelts make a driver feel safer therefore they do riskier things therefore more pedistrians get killed! Too strange....

LOL yeah I saw that... I'd race him if he came to Chicago (course I'd need to gain about .7 seconds, I think). Nothing stopping me from building a makeshift supercharger, though.

race?

yeah... that's real smart...

some loser in a Hon-Duh TRIED to get me to race yesterday... i ignored him... went right past him.... he was very persistent tho.. he catches up... cuts off the gal behind me... gets about 2 INCHES from my rear... at the time when i was breaking due to traffic...

well...

he locks them up... send both himself and the gal behind him into a full on spin in the middle of rush hour traffic on the busiest Interstate around... they both end up in the ditch with "minor" front end damage.... so much for his custom front kit & cute little fog lights....

He easily could have caused a MAJOR pile up and gotten himself killed...

all this cuz he wanted a piece of the Subie?

stupid i say.... really just not thinking.

why not race on closed circuits and show these losers what it's all about? why risk hurting yourself, your car, or someone else?

that gal in the 2nd car was pregnant... i just hope she remains so and doesn't lose the baby....

just my $.02

j.

Geez... definetly not a fun turn of events. Well at least that kid deserved it for driving so stupidly.

Just FEI (for everyone's info - can I coin that one? I hate typing that out all the time), most races around here that I've ever been in or seen end at 70-80 and the highest risk suring the entire time is getting caught and getting a ticket. I don't usually tolerate stupidity, and as maniacal as people think I drive, I don't do very much that is very risky.

*shrug* Oh well... I hope that those who don't think before they do things get theirs, and hopefully not get anyone else in the meantime.

Cool

Speaking of racing (and on a lighter note) It was raining yesterday, so I went out to hunt

I got to pass a grand am twice. (or grand prix, I always get those two confused) Not a big deal, but the guy was really trying

The second time was at a light where I got to feel all four of my wheels spin... ahhh...

Disclaimer: I race respectfully and only in open, safe areas

Cool

Funny that you'd mention this, cause yesterday I finally got the look from some guy in a new Integra base model with gold trim everywhere.
Well, we were waiting at the light that begins a freeway and just before it went green he started to rev high and crept 1/2 a car length ahead. I stayed put and the second the lights changed, bang! was off like a rocket. I passed him and was up at least 2 car lengths before I had to shift into 2nd, I kept pulling away till I let off at around 130 kph. He caught up to me and I waved but he pointedly ignored me.
Too bad it wasn't a GSR or a Type-R, yeah, I know, they'd probably kill me, but I don't mind being beaten as long I can surprise them with a good launch.

Yeah, plenty of FWD people at the autocrosses, but there won't be one til Sunday, and then I'll have to wait 2 more weeks (Sunday after is a club meeting). Oh well, I'll find that buddy of mine in his GS-R and challenge him with my new intake on... I'm pretty sure I can beat him now since before with my other intake I was dead even up until about 65-70.

The only thing that has openly challenged me is a minivan! I didn't even bother. He was hanging on to the a-pillar as he took a left hander in front of me. Hmmm, should have nudged his left rear corner a bit and watched the fireworks. Oh, wait, that would mess up my car.
