Default Are You Well-Rounded? Is that good or bad?

Are you well-rounded? Definition: you have a number of varied interests that you regularly cultivate; you are worldly enough to carry a conversation that covers politics to computers to sex to medicine to wine to jewelry to anime to scrapbooking to foreign affairs to star gossip to audiovisual gear and beyond; having had many different types of work and life experiences and taken something from all of them; flexible enough to successfully adapt to most groups and find something small in common with a lot of different people.

Can one be too well-rounded; e.g., versed on so many different topics that they almost don't really fit in anywhere but float at the edges of each social group? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I'm not well rounded.

I have no interest in things like English, etc. Most of my intellectual interests are in sciences and math. I know very little about fashion or social things.

Does this aid you or impair you, in general?

In general, probably impairs me. I don't fit into conversations that deal with any fashion or English.

I understand. I feel, conversely, that being too well-rounded often impairs - no fitting in with one group, the feeling of being kind of left out everywhere you go.

I'm well rounded, and it does help with conversation. I like the fact that I know something about many things, because it opens the door for more in depth conversations beyond that for a given subject.

If you are a superior know-it-all, you cannot "fit in"...people hate you for it.

No Im not well rounded at all!! I either know a great deal about a subject or nothing at all. I can talk all day about cars, engineering, movies, music, health ect

I however know absolutely nothing about sports, politics, or current pop culture. Unfortunately I can often hold a much better conversation with men than women. Life would be easier if I were gay. Too bad I like boobs.

Yes, but there's a difference between being a superior know it all and well rounded.

Hmm, that's a good way to look at it. I was always jealous of my friends that fit perfectly in one group.

you wont fit in "perfectly" with any group ...but you will fit in "enough" anywhere if you are well rounded

I don't mean being a Jack A$$, I just mean average folks tend to shun people that they can sense are superior to them in some way...like all the girls in the bar being catty towards the hottie. If folks catch on that you know too much about everything, it makes them self -conscious, so they avoid you. People don't like me. I mean a few people do, but mostly the sheep don't.

Yeah, I tend to think waaay outside the box. The "sheep" are, for example, the girls who avoid the hottie in bizzle's example. I avoid the hottie if I know for a fact that she's mean or immoral or something reeeeeeeeeally reprehensible. Otherwise, I'm the first girl to tell her she's pretty or try to be friends with her till she cops a tude with me.
Same with dudes.

The point is if you're well rounded, you're good at conversation. Most folks hate conservation...they want small talk.
